WHAT WE OFFER

The Alliance operates on a hybrid work schedule in which local employees are expected to work from the office every Tuesday and Thursday during standard work hours. Local employees generally have the flexibility to work remotely or from the office on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. All employees, both local and remote, receive equipment, supplies, and additional resources to help them do their best work.

JOB OVERVIEW

The Deputy Director of People Operations manages all aspects of the organization’s People Operations (i.e. Human Resources) functions. This individual will lead initiatives to ensure the Alliance has the necessary capacity and experience to achieve its strategic goals, a strong organizational culture marked by employee engagement and productivity, and policies and procedures to maximize employee effectiveness and efficiency.

The Deputy Director of People Operations will report to the Director of Operations as a part of the Operations department, which is responsible for ensuring that the Alliance has the people, processes, and platforms to optimize organizational health and achieve our mission.

We expect this individual to adhere to the Alliance’s hybrid work schedule, working from the office in Bala Cynwyd, PA on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Leadership
    • Oversee the work, growth, and development of the People Operations team, which currently consists of two direct reports.
    • Help lead and execute on Organizational Health strategy within the organization’s strategic plan.
    • Act as the system administrator for our Human Resources Information System (HRIS), BambooHR.
  • Recruiting and Staffing
    • Oversee staffing plans, recruiting, preboarding, onboarding, and offboarding.
    • Partner with the Director of Operations and the Executive Director to ensure a functional organizational structure, including appropriate job titles and salary ranges.
  • Total Rewards
    • Partner with our benefits consultant on an annual benefits analysis, review benefit plans to ensure compliance and equity, and lead the benefits open enrollment process each year.
    • Lead and implement annual compensation analysis.
    • Run payroll and maintain payroll taxes within the HRIS.
  • Culture, Engagement, and Learning/Development
    • Oversee strategic plans and actions aimed at maintaining team engagement, morale, development, and productivity; these actions could include, but are not limited to, staff recognition efforts, opportunities for professional development and learning, staff surveys, and social events.
  • Policies and Processes
    • Update, maintain, and enforce compliance with various policies and processes, including the employee handbook and Semiannual Review Process (SRP).
  • Employee Relations
    • Address employee concerns or complaints.
    • Partner with managers on performance conversations and plans.
    • Oversee employee separations and terminations.
  • These responsibilities may change or expand over time consistent with the organization’s needs and initiatives.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience
    • 10+ years of experience in Human Resources (HR), People Operations, or similar.
    • Experience as an HR Generalist with knowledge in all areas of HR; this includes Recruiting and Staffing (Talent Acquisition), Learning and Development, Total Rewards (Benefits and Compensation), Culture and Engagement, and Employee Relations.
    • Experience managing HR or People Operations team(s).
    • Experience with all-in-one Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS) is required; BambooHR experience is preferred.
    • A degree in Human Resources or similar is preferred, but not required.
    • Experience in a nonprofit organization is preferred, but not required.
