Position Description

As the deputy CTO you will work directly for the CTO and be responsible for assisting in the oversight of data, security, product/application management, and governance and assist in making technology decisions/recommendations on behalf of Kessel Run. You will help manage strategic vendor and technology partner relationships as well as manage project plans and performance metrics to include technology budget/investment insight and reviews with acquisitions to ensure it aligns with Kessel Run’s vision for technology needs. You will help in supporting the definition of the company’s overall technology strategy to support DoD and Air Force Operational Imperatives.  You should be a strategic thinker, an effective communicator, and an expert in technological development.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in developing Kessel Run’s strategy for using technological resources
  • Ensuring technologies are used efficiently and securely
  • Assist in evaluating and implementing new systems and infrastructure
  • Develop technical aspects of Kessel Run’s strategy to ensure alignment with goals
  • Discover and implement new technologies that yield technological advantage
  • Assist in building quality assurance and data protection processes
  • Monitor and assess technological performance of all products across Kessel Run
  • Communicate technology strategy to internal teams and stakeholders

Who You Are

  • BS/BA in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field; MBA or other relevant graduate degree is a plus
  • Proven experience in a CTO or similar leadership role in some capacity
  • Knowledge of technological trends to build strategies
  • Ability to conduct technological analyses and research
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Leadership and organizational abilities
  • You have experience working in/with DoD Weapon Systems, is a plus
  • Excellent observational skills and a great analytical ability
  • Understand technical concepts related to system architecture
  • You have a track record of owning and driving  priorities with logical rationale and consistently making correct strategic decisions
  • You are comfortable traveling to meet users and stakeholders and can represent both the team and Kessel Run during work trips
  • You are a U.S. citizen and are eligible to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance (see eligibility requirements here). A Top Secret security clearance with SCI eligibility is preferred.

This is a Federal civilian service position within the United States Air Force. We are hiring at the equivalent of a GS-14 up to GS-15 level for this position. This means you can expect a base salary of $99,908 to $152,771 multiplied by your locality rate, based on your experience. You can find your locality definition here and see the pay tables for the GS scale here. Our headquarters is located in Boston, MA; for a Boston-based employee, this would translate to a range from $130,929 to $183,500.
