Full-Time Demand Planner

Job Description

Demand Planner develops, maintains, and distributes regular monthly volume forecasts by SKU for new and existing products that support various internal departments in developing production schedules, logistic budgets, inventory plans and devising long-term financial, strategic and corporate growth plans. He/she coordinates analytics and insights to deliver business targets.  Collaborates with Sales, Supply, Marketing and Finance, identifying risks and opportunities. Involved in all aspects of the business planning process and interacts closely with all internal departments, having responsibility for achieving forecast accuracy and bias targets at the SKU, month level.

Key Responsibilities Include:

Strategy and Vision:

  • Demonstrate leadership, influence and expertise through
  • Act as gatekeeper of business knowledge and insights, liaising between cross functional teams
  • Encouraging team work between all internal departments
  • Creation of synergies across BU’s, finding ways to leverage best practices
  • Create the engagement plan with BU on IBP process:
  • Drive governance of improvement plans from IBP Team
  • Ensure Business/Sales Team plans are supported through the Demand Forecast process
  • Proactively highlights gaps in plan vs. annual target with facts to drive cross-functional gap closing actions. Seen as strategic business partner to identify gap closing opportunities.
  • Identify key capabilities required to improve
  • Establish annual forecast accuracy targets. Measure monthly forecast error results versus established targets and identify and report on root cause for forecast errors below target

Forecasts:

  • Lead the development of annual statistically trended base forecast for Supply Chain, Marketing, Finance and Sales.  Integrating forward-looking Sales assumptions, historical trends, price changes, cross customer cannibalization, competitive activity, and product innovation and discontinuations for all regular business plans in order to provide guidance to BU.
  • Maintain an overview of key trading issues; manage the impact on Gross Sales forecast including the effect of the resultant gap filling activities
  • Manage orders vs. estimates on a monthly basis, responding to exceptions with collaborative discussions and addressing monthly plan revisions accordingly
  • Bring Customer insight / Intelligence through
  • Latest field insights from cross functional teams that may impact the forecast
  • Be full versatile on explaining the Gross Sales & volume call, what includes the ability to bridge:
  • Consensus to Consensus
  • Consensus to AOP
  • Consensus to Month end Actuals
  • Consensus to Sales LE
  • Consensus to prior year
  • Provide monthly summaries to BU identifying key drivers, and clarity against segment/SKU level gaps/adjustments.

Leadership:

  • Identify key issues to Demand Director which require immediate escalation.
  • Establish and utilize best methods (statistical models and reporting tools) in creating forecasts at the SKU, BU, month.
  • Lead monthly Demand reviews with Cross functional teams to validate and adjust current fiscal year forecasts, gaining full alignment with key stakeholders.
  • Create insights for BU, determining long term business health and trends.
  • Manage planning and execution of monthly forecasts to drive Forecast Accuracy.
  • Provide direction for allocation of supplies with order management and supply planning team.
  • Ensure collaborative planning and proactive communication with key stakeholders.
  • Business lead/ subject matter expert for Systems implementation
  • Coach and train peers in demand planning processes and systems
  • Provide business updates with commentary on revenue (pacing and target) to cross functional teams to drive OTIF and visibility to gaps.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor degree preferably in Supply Chain, Engineering or Finance
  • 1-3 years of relevant experience in demand and supply planning preferred
  • Hands-on knowledge of forecasting and supply planning with MRP/ERP systems
  • Strong data analytics, hands on experience in forecasting a bonus
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Programs (Excel, Power Point, etc.)
  • Supply Chain experience in a Consumer Packaged Goods environment preferred
  • Experience in managing direct reports a bonus
