Delivery Supervisor

As a Delivery Supervisor, you will be expected to:

  • primarily oversee the delivery operational team, promoting and executing high standards of scheduling, routing, and delivery of orders, ensuring customer satisfaction is at the forefront of all operations. As the Delivery Supervisor you’ll be the immediate line manager for delivery drivers, allocating work; delivering instructions; monitoring their progress; and checking that everything’s been completed at the end of the day.
  • handle any grievance or disciplinary matters
  • Within your department, there will be assignments and departmental ownership aspects your supervisor will delegate to you. These will be reasonable operational tasks and you will be expected to execute these assignments successfully, working towards set KPI standards and departmental audits.
  • ensure that vehicles are maintained and that driver checks are carried out properly. You’ll strive for constant general improvement and increased profitability on assets at your disposal
  • support the group’s fleet manager in ensuring all vehicles are roadworthy and legally compliant within the legislation of the company’s operator’s license.
  • to build a high-performing team by supporting and developing individuals and motivating them to achieve. Able to set operational and personal goals and objectives and monitor progress, providing clear guidance and feedback.
  • Understand the importance in the team meeting appraisal targets/audit’s and support the delivery and achievement of overall business objectives.
  • communicate effectively (verbal, written, digital), chair meetings and present to team and management. Use of active listening and provision of constructive feedback
  • ensure that the performance of Delivery Team is effectively operating, ensuring any underperformance is managed and excellence is recognised
  • Understand the needs to operate in a compliant manner whilst at the same time competing in a challenging environment.
  • create, develop and promote a culture within the business that focuses on business efficiency and compliance with company policies and objectives.

  • Adhere with the Health and Safety at Work Act to take reasonable care of own health and safety and that of others who may be affected by their acts and omissions.

To be successful in a Delivery Supervisor role, the skills you will need:   

  • IOSH or equivalent, Full CPC National Road Haulage, HGV 2 (inc Driver CPC), ADR awareness, Computer skills (MS, Excel, Word), experience of Lean Processing.
  • Strong financial/operational skills with track record of route planning productivity and service level improvements.
  • High level of collaboration skills, regularly liaising with key stakeholders in other departments of the business, including other branches of Sovini Trade Supplies to ensure smooth operations and overcoming collective challenges, to exceed customers’ expectations and uphold the company’s high customer reputation.
  • Experience in dealing with contingency processes for absence, unforeseen circumstances and vehicle breakdowns.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritise and manage workload to meet strict deadlines.
  • Self-motivated with enthusiasm, commitment and drive and ability to work under pressure and still produce a high standard of work.
  • Ability to work as a member of a fast paced team.

  • Ability to be flexible, multi-skilled and willing to go the extra-mile.
  • Excellent communication skills, able to communicate across multiple channels including Microsoft Teams, Face to Face and Email.

  • UK driver’s License
