As a member of the IT Department, this position is accountable for the following:
- Works within the Business Intelligence team who are responsible for performing data analytics, building and maintaining integrations, reports, alerts and supporting the NLC’s mature business intelligence (BI) pillar.
- Analyses and assesses dependencies and the impact of proposed changes on existing database systems and BI processes;
- Participates in project review to ensure that requirements are fully understood;
- Performs SQL Server installations, configurations, optimizations, security configuration and backups;
- Responsible for the efficient and successful operation of relational database systems ensuring security, disaster recovery, data integrity, and data backup. Enforces data integrity through implementation of industry best practices and standards for securing database environments.
- Codes additional functionality according to business requirements and creates scripts, tables, views, and procedures;
- Creates and maintains application integrations as required;
- Designs and produces forms and reports as required;
- Recovers and restores database and/or application servers necessitated by unexpected system failures.
- Ensures accurate and efficient data recovery in the event of data loss by developing, monitoring, maintaining and enforcing data archiving, data backup, import/export and disaster recovery procedures that adhere to industry standards and client business requirements.
- Provides lead expertise to multiple projects in the architectural design, development, analysis and the implementation of client/server and N-Tier relational database systems.
- Works with third party vendors to develop technical data solutions that meet the functional and business requirements outlined by the Business Intelligience team;
- Works with Technical Designers to ensure architected solutions and applications meet NLC data standards;
- Clarifies business requirements with clients and challenges as necessary to ensure workable and optimum solutions are designed, agreed, and signed off;
- Provides leadership, guidance and mentoring to junior resources in defining, implementing, and enforcing database and business intelligience standards and ensuring they are inline with departmental priorities.
- As part of a group, provides end to end rotation support for production environments including after hours on-call rotation duties;
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:
- University Degree with a major in Computer Science or a Professional Diploma in Computer Studies from an accredited technical college;
- 3-5 years data analysis experience,
- 3-5 years experience with SQL Server and Microsoft Business Intelligence stack (SSAS, SSIS, SSRS);
- Knowledge of Extraction Transformation and Loading (ETL), Online Transactional Processing (OLTP) or Data Warehouse (OLAP) databases;
- Experience with Power BI, predictive analytics, dashboards, data mining, AWS, SQL migration and data visualization tools would be an asset;
- Proven experience in researching products, solutions, and best practices within specified functional areas;
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate complex data issues correctly and clearly to both internal and external partners;
- Experience with system integration, system planning, security and software management best practices;
- Effective verbal and written communications skills;
- Proven analytical, creative problem solving and collaborative decision making abilities;
- Excellent time management skills;
- Strong interpersonal, communication, customer service and consulting skills;

Salary: CG 42 ($70,561.40 – $83,155.80) Annually
