Job Description
Title: Data Operations Manager
Location: Cambridge, MA (This position will begin fully remote but will transition to on-site in the future.)
Typical work hours: 9am-5pm with some flexibility in start/end times; No weekend or OT work expected for this contractor
We are looking for an enthusiastic, thorough, and collaborative Data Operations Manager to support ongoing research through enabling seamless access to high-quality data.
Job functions:
• Deliver operational excellence in data management and governance, focusing on effective management and completion of Research & Early Development informatics and data management projects with small to medium scope and complexity
• Provide team leadership and management to proactively identify and mitigate data quality issues, and respond to data source changes or outages, as well as escalations from stakeholders
• Prioritize data support operations needs based on impact and an ability to improve the overall stakeholder experience
• Evaluate issues/needs and engage appropriate resources to develop, enhance, and automate processes for queuing and prioritizing data management and curation requests
• Partner with data managers, data scientists, and data engineers to continuously improve the breadth, depth, and capabilities of our data quality monitoring and operational support tooling and processes
Required:
• Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline with at 5-7 years of experience in biomedical data management, data engineering, quality assurance, assay development, specimen data management or related discipline
• Extensive experience managing, processing, and applying quality control metrics and processes to a wide range of data types in support of R&ED
• Solid knowledge of GDPR and national data protection laws
• Experience with project management tools and methodologies
• Superior proficiency with Windows OS and MS Office
• Excellent written and verbal communication, comfortable working independently and as part of a collaborative team, and excellent critical thinking, analytical skills, and judgment
Nice to have:
• Prior experience with biological data, knowledge of molecular biology techniques e.g. sequencing, qPCR, flow cytometry, immunoassay etc.
• General understanding of cloud computing / data storage concepts (S3, NSF)
• Demonstrable ability to work among a large multidisciplinary team
• Experience working in a dynamic fast-paced environment with shifting priorities
