Job Description
Data Analyst
Gather, analyze, and report on data for the Industry Affairs department, including, but not limited to, event registration, membership growth and retention, surveys and other data connected to the organization’s association management software (AMS). A qualified candidate will be comfortable working with large and complex data sets and have experience cleaning and translating data into easy-to-understand visual formats.
Primary Responsibilities
Monitor and analyze real-time and historical event registration data to identify patterns, predict performance and provide other insights to support overall event growth strategies.
Manage registration processes for department events and activities. Duties may include providing input to registration vendors and partners for system updates and design; assisting in registration database maintenance; registration data entry and correction; handling, maintaining, and following up to collect applicable registration fees and providing registration support and follow up for customers and members.
Lead data management projects to clean and organize data, research inaccurate/incomplete data to uncover issues and identify solutions to eliminate gaps/risks in data quality.
Establish and track key performance indicators (KPI’s) to measure the effectiveness of business decisions. This may require collaboration across departments.
Create and modify Salesforce reports and dashboards in support of AMS users.
Evaluate existing data collection methodologies and make recommendations on ways to obtain and analyze data to improve quality and efficiency of systems.
Understand business processes with the ability to translate business requirements into analytical reporting.
Collaborate with Vice President, Industry Affairs to establish best practices and enforce data governance policies to standardize the management of data in the AMS.
Conduct analysis in support of revenue generating projects and overall growth strategies.
Participate in data-related trainings to support staff’s use of the organization’s AMS and other third-party tools and solutions.
Work with internal technology resources to determine appropriate software and database needs to support an advanced insight function.
Generate reports, dashboards, and other visualization presentations to communicate insights internally.
Work with department leadership to prioritize business and information needs and to promote a culture of data-driven decision and agile execution.

Desired Skills and Abilities
- Four-year degree required; computer science, data, or related degree preferred
- 2- 5 years of relevant experience required
- Advanced knowledge of excel formulas and functions required
- Ability to review data analysis and excel pivot tables
- Strong knowledge and understanding of Google Analytics
- Strong knowledge and understanding of Salesforce.com (Nimble AMS a plus)
- Strong knowledge and understanding of data import/export tools is required. Dataloader.io or DemandTools experience is a plus
- Strong organizational, project management and analytical skills is needed. The qualified applicant must be detail oriented
- Comfortable with communicating data to make it understandable to others
- Adaptability and flexibility is key for the candidate to be successful
- The qualified candidate must be customer-service oriented and a team player
