Full-Time Custody Healthcare Professional (Police Suites)

Are you an RN (Adult) RGN, Paramedic with 2 years’ post qualification experience?

- Base salary of £36,000, with average earnings including overtime of £40,500 in first year, taking account of:
- +£1,000 1st year completion bonus, payable after 12 months of continued service
- Average overtime earnings (not guaranteed, but based on actual historical data, of £3,500 per annum)
- 42 hours a week, 2 days 2 nights on, 4 off, this is a rotating shift pattern, Rota given 8 weeks in advance. The 4-days off aim to achieve a better work life balance
The custody suites are a progressive and energetic place to work, no two shifts are the same. Individuals can be detained for up to 24 hours and in this time, we provide them with all their Physical, Mental wellbeing needs as well as any forensic samples needed by the police to aid their investigations.
As a Custody Healthcare Professional, you will work with the police to identify the health needs of individuals who have been detained. Every day will be different and the individuals you will be supporting will have varying needs. You will provide a competent forensic nursing service within the Custody suite, be responsible for conducting initial assessments, identifying areas of concern, implementing effective treatments or referrals, keeping accurate records, ensuring the health and wellbeing of the detained individual while in custody. You will receive training and support to become an accredited Forensic Practitioner
Requirements for a career in Custody Forensic Nursing:
- Qualified RN Adult, RMN’s (with dual registration), RGNs or Paramedics with a real passion for developing your clinical and wider skills in an environment that is ever changing.
- Minimum of 2 years post qualification experience in a patient facing role within a relevant field (General Practice, Emergency Medicine, Walk in Centres, Substance Misuse Services, Prison Healthcare, Mental Health, or Ambulance Service) as an Adult RN or Registered Paramedic
- Have a flexible approach working within a team that encourage new ideas and opinions on how to improve the service.
