Full-Time CTE Curriculum Specialist

FTE: 1.0

Salary Range: $69,362 – $80,441

  

Essential Functions and Objectives:

Administers and manages activities within a specific area of a responsibility. Serves as the subject matter expert and applies gained knowledge to execute, maintain and improve systems, programs, or processes.

Provides support to Career and Technical Education (CTE) teachers throughout the District in regards to Leading Effective Academic Practice (LEAP), planning and pacing guides for CTE courses, common assessments, and state assessments. Delivers best practice instructional strategies to CTE teachers throughout the District.

Provides leadership in the development, implementation and coordination of the District’s CTE 6-12 curriculum.

Responsible for providing support to CTE and academic teachers related to the implementation of the CTE approved programs in DPS.

Uses data to drive changes in classroom instruction by collecting, analyzing, and determining next steps.

Puts in place an infrastructure for professional development of school staff; assists in the formation and development of the professional development team at the school level; and provides professional development for new CTE teachers.

Studies, evaluates, and as appropriate, recommends to the CTE Director the adoption of new instructional materials, methods, and programs.

Assists principals and other staff in designing individualized professional development plans to deepen their knowledge of best practices in the classroom.

Provides tools, protocols, and professional development opportunities that help principals and other staff to strengthen their instructional knowledge in order to support teaching and learning for all students.

Consults with principals and classroom teachers to provide strategies and feedback on best practices and instructional techniques in CTE and assists in differentiating instruction to the needs of students.

Conducts and/or participates in classroom learning walks in schools to engage teachers, administrators, and others in identifying examples of effective classroom practices; uses information gathered to plan the focus of professional development and instructional work with schools.

Provides training, technical direction, and guidance to teachers regarding appropriate use of assessments to guide instruction.

Facilitates course advanced credit pathways between CTE programs and appropriate community college programs.

Knowledge, Experience & Other Qualifications:

Five (5) years of satisfactory teaching experience.

Two (2) years experience in planning and providing professional development. 

– Two (2) years of CTE experience in the classroom or with state approved CTE programming.

Proficiency with Google Suite products.

Effective time management, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

Effective verbal and written communication skills.

Effectively handles multiple demands and competing deadlines.

Ability to work in a self-directed manner.

Works collaboratively with others on a team.

– Demonstrated successes in differentiating CTE instruction for English Language Learners, special education students, and gifted and talented students.

Commitment to continuous professional learning.

Holds a Master’s degree with a teaching license and CTE credential.

Education Requirements:

Masters degree required.
