Full-Time Corporate Stewardship Manager

Job Summary:

The Corporate Stewardship Manager (CSM) oversees comprehensive fundraising and engagement strategies to build meaningful relationships with a portfolio of corporate and foundation accounts giving to United Way of King County annually. The Stewardship Manager creates and implements strategies by segment to engage with accounts in ways they value, communicating the importance of their giving to our community. The position provides effective donor pipeline management through opportunity identification, cultivation, asking, closing, reporting, and stewardship.

 

This position is responsible for building out the Corporate and Institutional Stewardship Program for all corporate team members to use for their portfolio stewardship, cultivation, and retention. Management of this program includes creating communication timelines, drafting appropriate language, and providing information regarding volunteerism and community engagement to be shared with portfolio accounts.

 

The CSM works to renew lapsed institutional donors and qualify/disqualify these accounts for assignment among members of the Corporate and Foundation team. The position maintains relationships resulting in $500,000 to $1M from companies through a combination of grants, corporate gifts, and sponsorships, and involves regular one-on-one interaction with “executive-level” volunteers, CEOs, and assigned corporate social responsibility staff.

 

The Corporate Stewardship Manager will also partner with other members of the Corporate and Foundation team to support 1-5 of our most valuable institutional relationships; helping plan events, connecting the CSR Team with UWKC’s Volunteer Center, and helping write, edit, and present annual impact reports.

The annual salary range is $87,070.50 – $89,005.40 DOE. This position is open until filled.

Essential Duties

 

  • Develops, implements, and executes year-round partnership strategies to increase financial support for United Way of King County.
  • Generates financial revenue from corporate gifts, grants, and sponsorships from a portfolio of 125-250 institutions.
  • Stewardship Program Management: Leads the creation of the annual stewardship calendar and execution of communications and outreach to companies. Heads the Corporate and Foundation team in creating and sharing stewardship templates to use for their portfolio stewardship through communications and activities.
  • Analyzes giving trends and identifies opportunities for increased fundraising from portfolio companies.
  • Creates strategies to acquire and retain new business and reengage lapsed supporters through research, outreach, event invitations, and volunteer opportunities.
  • Documents meaningful interactions with portfolio companies and foundations, volunteers, and prospective supporters in accordance with Development Team Standards.
  • Volunteer Management: Works with assigned Board, Cabinet, and other volunteers to identify meaningful opportunities to aid United Way in its fundraising and engagement with supporters and potential supporters in the community. Uses their knowledge of United Way’s work and the community to cultivate and recruit new volunteers for United Way.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

  • Demonstrated understanding of social and racial justice and equity, with a proven commitment to apply racial and economic justice lenses in both personal and workplace contexts.
  • Lived experience and/or demonstrated professional skills working within a diverse work environment.
  • Demonstrated strong persuasive communication skills, both written and verbal, including public speaking skills
  • Proven excellent task, time, and project management skills, as well as the ability to set goals and objectives and use appropriate analytic techniques and tools to update projections regularly.
  • Demonstrated committed team player with a strong record of collaboration.
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically about the King County business climate and key trends within industries and companies.
  • Proven entrepreneurial mindset and abilities, including the willingness to try new approaches and make refinements when needed.
  • Demonstrated ability to use discretion and independent judgment and/or action in evaluating situations and making decisions.
  • Flexible, comfortable, and credible with C-suite level executives and government/community relations staff.
  • Familiarity and comfort using principles of Consultative Sales, Community-Centered Fundraising, customer relations, and Moves Management to meet specific goals as they relate to assigned accounts and relationship-building goals.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle bulk email communications.
  • Proven experience with relational databases such as Microsoft Dynamics CRM.
  • Proven knowledge of information systems including a variety of software, internet, and various databases
  • Proven proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Education and/or Experience:

 

Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent experience in fundraising, sales, business, marketing, communications, or a related field. Must have at least 2 years’ experience in fundraising or sales/marketing. Experience with donor solicitation and fundraising techniques, with an applied emphasis on customer relationship building, is highly desired.
