Full-Time Corporate Paralegal – Redmond or Seattle WA

Job Description

The Corporate Paralegal assists General Counsel by providing clerical and research support services, including document preparation and review, corporate records management, coordination between the Legal Affairs team and other company teams, legal research and general support services.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conducts research of relevant laws, regulations, and legal articles to assist General Counsel with preparation of reports, case files, and legal advice.
  • Investigates potential claims under direct supervision of General Counsel. Supports coordination with outside counsel in litigation as needed.
  • Supports Board initiatives under the direction of General Counsel.
  • Organizes and maintains corporate documents in paper or electronic filing systems. Works with administrative staff to improve and oversee records retention policies and procedures.
  • Supports the Company’s insurance program under direct supervision of General Counsel, including coordination of annual renewals, oversight of certificate of insurance requirements, and retention and organization of insurance policies and documents.
  • Drafts a variety of legal documents and correspondence, finalizing under the supervision of General Counsel.
  • Creates processes and workflows that ensure productivity and conformance to Company best practices related to contract review, insurance program and tasks, document retention, and corporate governance.
  • Collaborates with Legal Affairs, Marketing, Human Recourses, Technology and Operations, along with leadership and other stakeholders, in regard to due diligence and legal matters as needed.
  • Provides general administrative support to General Counsel as well as other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field or equivalent combination of education and experience. Paralegal certificate required.
  • 4+ years relevant commercial paralegal experience within a legal or corporate environment.
  • Proficient understanding of due diligence practices and procedures with ability to effectively analyze and evaluate such procedures.
  • Proficient understanding of legal language and principles, research methods, court pleadings and processes, and other related matters.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with a high level of initiative, effectively meet set deadlines and adapt to changing requirements.
  • High degree of collaboration and interpersonal skills, as well as ability to work independently as needed. Ability to utilize excellent written and verbal communication when interacting with employees at all levels of the organization.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills, attention to detail and proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills, with demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, make decisions, and change course of action quickly, while also understanding when to escalate issues that arise
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, exercising discretion and judgment as needed.
  • Strong computer proficiency, particularly with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and ability to learn new software as needed.

Physical Requirements/Work Environment

  • Normal office environment with moderate noise levels, occasional lifting of up to 25lbs., prolonged sitting and regular walking, bending, standing, and reaching.
  • Ability to perform consistent work on a PC with prolonged view of a monitor/screen.

Our best estimate of the salary range for this position, located in Redmond or Seattle Washington, is $32.45 – $47.07 per hour. Compensation offered will be based on a variety of individual factors, including education and experience, as well as internal equity. GeoEngineers’ salary ranges are reviewed and updated each year and employees are eligible for pay increases based on individual performance. As part of our competitive total rewards package, employees in this role may also be eligible for our annual year-end bonus offering, subject to program eligibility requirements.
