Salary Range: $48,316 – $56,031

  

Essential Functions and Objectives:

 

Responsible for connecting students to resources that support students’ success and enabling students to advocate for themselves, including referrals to in-house or community resources such as childcare, food, transportation, or housing assistance; academic accessibility and accommodations support; and academic remediation services. Responsible for planning, promoting, and conducting events to assist students to develop and strengthen life and career skills and identify community resources that may be available to them. 

 

– Responsible for non-academic student support services, including Emily Griffith Technical College orientation, connections to and referrals for wrap-around services (e.g. childcare, food, transportation, housing), and accessibility and accommodations referrals and documentation support; provides a full range of services to students and the general public by responding to requests for student support information and assistance in person, online, or by telephone.

– Advises students on general policies, procedures, and processes pertaining to multiple functional areas as well as targeted academic programs or student populations, which include but are not limited to assessment/testing, graduation services, new student orientation, retention of developmental education self-service stations and veterans services; connects students with the appropriate office or program for detailed assistance and support.

– Plans, organizes, schedules, promotes, and conducts workshops, seminars, classroom presentations, meetings, and individual sessions around academic and life skills such as study strategies, computer literacy, goal setting, time management, and financial literacy; may develop joint events with internal and external partners.

– Works with the Partnerships functional area to develop and maintain 25% community resource relationships and partnerships in order to provide individual referrals, on-campus workshops, and resource fairs in areas related to personal development and resource access such as childcare assistance, housing assistance, food assistance, transportation assistance, computer literacy, goal setting, time management, financial literacy, and other broadly applicable skills development programs.

Knowledge, Experience & Other Qualifications:

– Five (5) years increasingly responsible experience working in a social service or community service capacity or a student services-oriented role at a community college or other educational institution; a bachelor’s degree in social work, sociology, education, or other related field may substitute for up to two years of related experience.

– Knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, and Outlook, as well as Google Suite.

– Knowledge of Student Information Systems (Jenzabar preferred) and CRM software (Salesforce preferred).

– Effective time management and organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple demands and competing deadlines.

– Excellent communications skills (written, verbal, and listening).

– Ability to work effectively with a diverse student population and build and maintain positive relationships with students, faculty, and staff across the entire college.

– Ability to identify student challenges and needs (often not vocalized), effectively communicate with students, and provide remediation or in-college assistance.

– Professional work ethic with a friendly, personable attitude dedicated to the service of students.

– Understands and ensures compliance with Cleary, FERPA, and Title IX law and support services.

– Ability and willingness to learn and adapt to new technology systems.

Education Requirements:

– Associate’s Degree or two years of college level coursework in business, social work, psychology, sociology, or a related field.

– Bachelor’s Degree preferred in Social Work, Sociology, Education, or other related field.
