Audience & Community

Reporting to the Manager, Community Impact, this role will work in a fast-paced environment designing and implementing inclusive, innovative, and engaging public programming to dynamically boost the TIFF Bell Lightbox year-round environment. This new programming portfolio will encompass public art displays, community partner activations, film and media projection, and live performance and will be realized through programming partnerships, community partner co-creation, temporary installation, and artist activations that animate the building, increase foot traffic, delight patrons, and attract new audiences. We are seeking applicants who have a strong interest and experience working in film, community arts, and/or public programming.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinate TIFF’s Public Spaces programming portfolio, contributing to conceptualization and execution of public programming at TIFF throughout the year
  • Collaborate with the Manager, Community Impact, internal stakeholders and partners to research and ideate new audience engagement initiatives within TIFF Bell Lightbox
  • Curate, support, and supervise a roster of artists who participate in public programmes
  • Consult with internal teams to ensure public programming meets technical and logistical requirements, including timelines and budgets, building requirements, and installation processes
  • Coordinate guest bookings and support guests in their participation in events
  • Cultivate collaborative and reciprocal relationships with new and existing programming and community partners across the GTA to elevate public programmes
  • Coordinate budget tracking for Public Spaces portfolio and support financial administration across Audience & Community team
  • Work together with partners and internal stakeholders to measure the impact of public engagement
  • General administrative support as part of Audience & Community portfolio, including: managing critical paths and tracking sheets, building slide presentations and proposals, registration/feedback forms, use of Trello, Artifax, and updating key dept. tracking documents

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • 2-3 years working in film, community arts, and/or public programming
  • Previous experience designing and facilitating inclusive and accessible programming for and with community audiences
  • Previous experience with project management, event planning and execution
  • Experience working with diverse communities and equity-deserving groups an asset
  • Knowledge of and interest in film, contemporary arts, culture, and social justice
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Exceptional computer skills and database management (including Google drive, database software)
  • Strong ability to work efficiently on many projects with varying deadlines, and anticipate priorities
  • Strong communication skills and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Mature personal judgment, exhibiting a high level of professionalism and diplomacy
  • Adaptable to a flexible work schedule including evenings and weekends
