Schedule Information: Monday through Friday 8:00am – 5:00pm
Hours per Week: 37.5

Work Conditions: Work is primarily indoors and sedentary in nature. Some evening and weekend responsibilities.
Duties of Position: Provides collaborative, student-centric leadership and focuses on successful outcomes for students from minoritized and underrepresented identities, with expertise in serving LGBTQ+ populations. Assists in the implementation of the overall mission of the Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion by designing quality programming, reviewing/developing policies, creating resources and coordinating support strategies to enhance student success and belonging. Collaborates with departments across campus to provide services for students, referring students to appropriate resources and providing education and training to students and employees.
Supports the retention and success of students from minoritized backgrounds, with special emphasis on students identifying within the LGBTQ+ population.
Assists students with effectively navigating Harper’s systems and processes and understanding policies, procedures and protocols.
Identifies barriers to full participation in curricular and co-curricular contexts and determines support strategies, resources and action plans.
Implements intentional activities to help create an inclusive campus environment that promotes students’ sense of belonging.
Works closely with the DEI team to plan and implement a range of departmental programs and services.
Facilitates greater understanding of intersectional identities (e.g., race, class, gender, ability, sexual orientation) and social justice across campus.
Maintains strong connections with LGBTQ+ students via individual/group meetings and frequent communications.
Helps students resolve challenges by clarifying protocols and making referrals to faculty, coordinators, advisors, counselors and other personnel as needed.
Shares best practices, current issues, trends and policies related to the LGBTQ+ population with the DEI team and the broader campus community.
Designs and presents LGBTQ+ trainings such as Safe Zone, pronoun usage, and trans inclusion.
Implements programs, such as Pride Month, Trans Day of Remembrance, Day of Silence, etc. for (and in collaboration with) students, faculty and staff. Also oversees programs for Women’s History Month and Diversity Week.
Maintains a network of cooperative relationships with student leaders/organizations, campus departments, community partners, staff/faculty and others to provide student success resources.
Develops and manages communication strategies and collaborates with Harper’s Communications team.
Creates assessments for new/existing initiatives and reporting of key metrics.
Provides consultation to faculty/staff in service of supporting LGBTQ+ and other underrepresented students.
Serves as liaisons to designated, diverse student organizations.
Performs other duties as assigned.
