We are currently hiring for the position of:
CONTROLLER
Reporting to the Director, Finance & Administration, the controller will be responsible for organizing, leading, and controlling all the accounting and financial reporting functions of TIFF. The Controller is accountable for the accurate and timely reporting of TIFF’s financial results, ensuring the accuracy of all accounting records, as well as preparing all required government submissions in a timely manner.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Shall include but not be limited to:
- Ensure accurate and timely monthly and year end close.
- Liaise with external auditors and coordinate with internal stakeholders to meet the audit requirements for the annual financial statements for the organization
- Develop and enhance the financial reporting systems and processes, to meet the needs.
- Oversee all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems, ensure accurate and timely processing of financial transactions through the general ledger and sub ledgers.
- Ensure all balance sheet accounts are properly reconciled on a monthly basis.
- Preparation of government submissions (e.g., HST return – quarterly, Annual Charity Return T3010).
- Review and post journals, approve invoices and payments.
- Implement and enforce internal controls to maximize protection of the organization’s assets, policies, procedures, and workflows.
- Contribute to the implementation of the department’s mandate and operating procedures by taking a significant role in the identification of new projects that fit organization’s and department’s performance agreements.
- Support the Director, Finance & Administration with special projects.
- Day to day management, coaching and oversight of staff.
- Other duties as assigned.
- This position requires being in office on a regular basis, aligning with our Flexible Work from Home Policy.
JOB GRADE & SALARY
- Grade 4
- Minimum Salary: $65,000/Yearly
TARGET START DATE:
- July 4, 2022
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelors degree in accounting and a professional accounting designation (CA, CGA, CMA), required
- Minimum of 5-7 years of post-designation accounting and financial reporting experience
- Minimum 5 years of management experience
- Accounting
- Sound understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Demonstrates a high level of integrity

- Strong leadership, development and people management skills
- Communication
- Communicate with internal and external stakeholders in order to accommodate special requests on timely basis.
- Strong communication & presentation skills, with the ability to disseminate financial information to non-financial managers

- Work closely with all departments to provide support on the delivery of various projects.

- Proven ability to be calm and proactive in a high pressure environment with changing priorities
- Prioritize and delivery of tasks with the constant changes in work flow.
- Highly organised in the management of individual workload and the workload of staff

- Analyze and record data with accuracy.
- Collaboration/Teamwork
- Understand and work closely not only with Finance staff, but all of the organization’s staff as a part of one single team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and Google Suite.
- Experience with Netsuite (Financial System) an asset.

- Adaptable to a flexible work schedule including some evenings and weekends
