POSITION SUMMARY

This role is part of the Utah’s Promise marketing team and is focused on creating our storytelling strategy and developing content within Promise Partnership Utah. The goal of this position is to write creative, engaging, and equitable content that advances our ability to 1) build shared ownership and identity in the partnership and 2) communicate with partners, donors, and the public. This role is unique and will be actively engaged in Promise Partnership Utah’s work: attend events and meetings, interview partners and community members, and other immersive opportunities.

We are looking for a self-motivated storyteller who understands the logistical elements of narrative writing, AP writing style, and how to write for—and share information on—different platforms. The person in this position drives content development, both online and offline, and can write both short, shareable content and longer editorial pieces. This position is responsible for developing a content strategy to magnify reach, impact, and brand awareness.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Write and edit content for online and offline sources.
  2. Collaborate with cross-departmental teams to develop content strategies for various audiences.
  3. Lead out on the year-round content strategy for Promise Partnership Utah in collaboration with VP, Strategic Communications and Marketing.
  4. Compellingly articulate and amplify the impact of Promise Partnership Utah and its partners while incorporating data surrounding measurable outcomes.
  5. Actively seek out and help define new creative methods and mediums for telling our partner, donor, and volunteer engagements stories.
  6. Repurpose and create engaging copy for web pages, emails, invitations, brochures, social media, online advertising, direct mail, and more.
  7. Collect data and feedback regarding engagement, perception, and influence of the Promise Partnership Utah brand.
  8. Steward the Promise Partnership Utah brand when working with external partners.
  9. Collaborate with marketing team members to ensure design, text, message, and brand consistency.
  10. Collaborate with Creative Director on how Promise Partnership Utah’s story is told visually and how it aligns with written content.
  11. Assist team members with editing, providing constructive feedback as needed.
  12. Use best practice strategies to increase content views and shares; differentiate between on- and off-brand messaging.
  13. Performs other related duties as assigned by the supervisory personnel.

BENEFITS

This is a full time, exempt position with full benefits.; $60,000 – 70,000. Salary commensurate with experience.  Utah’s Promise is a hybrid employer that requires employees on-site two days a week.

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES

  • Exceptional writing and editing skills
  • Understanding of journalistic writing principles
  • Ability to develop long-form and short-form content and create immediate content/articles
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills
  • Experience interviewing internal and external stakeholders from all demographics
  • Ability to prioritize multiple assignments with potentially conflicting timelines
  • Strategic mindset for how content can be used across an organization and with varying audiences
  • Understanding of video production process and how stories are told visually
  • Flexibility adjusting to unexpected assignments, difficulties, and deadlines
  • Experience with Asana and SharePoint a plus

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of writing experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in English, marketing, or related degree, or equivalent work experience
  • Proven proficiency in storytelling
  • Portfolio of writing samples

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The employee is regularly required to communicate clearly, in oral and written formats, with others in person, over the phone, and via other devices. The employee must be able to transcribe, read extensively, prepare and analyze data and figures, constantly operate a computer and other standard office machinery. The employee is required to regularly travel to offsite locations to set up presentations and display physical and electronic forms. The employee must have the ability to lift, carry, push and/or pull objects weighing up to 50lbs.
