Full-Time Content Marketing Manager

Job Description

As a member of the Marketing Department, the Content Marketing Manager is responsible for helping to oversee Nat Hab’s content marketing program and related initiatives to create compelling conservation travel content that will increase traffic to the Nat Hab blog and website.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

To perform this job successfully, the applicant must be able to execute the following duties. Additional duties may be added or assigned at any time.

 

Manage Content on the Good Nature Travel Blog

  • Oversee the editorial calendar for and content publication on Nat Hab’s Good Nature Travel blog in collaboration with the other Content Marketing Manager and the Director of Digital Marketing.
  • Generate ideas and research topics based on SEO, trip promotion priorities, company and travel industry announcements, current events, conservation news, traveler stories, naturalist guide interviews, etc.
  • Schedule appropriate blog post publishing dates based on trip booking seasons, wildlife holidays, current news, and harmonizing with Nat Hab’s other marketing initiatives (enews, mailers, etc.).
  • Direct the work of a team of external contract writers, including relationship management, ongoing communications, topic assignments and scheduling, calculating compensation, and coordinating with Nat Hab’s Finance team to facilitate prompt payments.
  • Write, format, copyedit and publish blog posts on a regular basis, including optimizing each post for search engine results placement and ensuring all posts adhere to Nat Hab’s brand messaging, style guide and quality standards.
  • Curate, select, resize, upload and place appropriate photos and videos for each blog post.
  • Ensure that all content adheres to Nat Hab’s brand messaging, website style and quality standards.
  • Guide and support internal staff writers with blog ideation and collaboratively brainstorm blog topics.

 

Assist with Website Enhancements, Content Updates & SEO

  • Support the Marketing Department with nathab.com website projects, including ongoing content updates; choosing, resizing, and uploading photos and videos; and writing and editing text content using a proprietary content management system (CMS).
  • Help with SEO projects on nathab.com, including keyword research and adding or modifying title tags, meta descriptions, and alt tags.
  • Compose, format, edit and publish “Know Before You Go” content on the nathab.com website trip pages to help travelers prepare for their adventures, answer common questions, and drive organic website traffic.
  • Coordinate with the Adventure Operations and Guest Communications departments on an ongoing basis to maintain the accuracy of all website content, including key trip details and frequently asked questions.
  • Proactively identify opportunities for generating additional Know Before You Go content.

 

Maintain Trip Review Content

  • Monitor and assess post-trip evaluations from travelers to feature on trip pages on the nathab.com website.
  • Format and upload post-trip evaluations to Nat Hab’s online review platform on a monthly basis, and set up reviews for new trips once the first season is complete.

 

GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • 2+ years’ professional experience using a website content management system such as WordPress, Drupal, Joomla, Squarespace, Weebly, Wix, etc.
  • 2+ years’ professional experience collaborating with a team to create and manage website or blog content.
  • 2+ years’ professional experience writing and editing text content and working with visual content.
  • A bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, journalism, English or a related field is preferred but not required.
  • Excellent writing, copyediting, project management, organizational and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated passion for problem solving and quickly learning new software and other skills on the job.
  • Ability to follow directions and utilize constructive feedback to continually grow and improve as a professional.
  • Ability to balance competing priorities, goals and timelines.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and steadfast dedication to timeliness, consistency and quality control.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with high levels of integrity, maturity and enthusiasm.
  • Basic knowledge of Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and experience writing for SEO is preferred but not required.
  • Social media content management experience (specifically with Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube) is preferred but not required.
  • Possess a demonstrated passion for travel/tourism, nature/wildlife or related fields. International travel experience is preferred but not required.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, talk and hear. The employee will also be required to type, move a mouse and write. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

 

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

Compensation commensurate with experience: Base salary range of $50,000-$60,000 USD, plus annual bonus.

 

This position comes with generous Paid Time Off and paid holidays. Benefits include site inspection on Natural Habitat Adventures trips and discounts on outdoor gear and clothing. Eligibility for medical insurance, participation in 401(k) with company match and parental leave after a predetermined period of time.

 

LOCATION

Nat Hab currently has a hybrid work model, with some days working in-person at the office (optional) and some days working from home for those employees who live near the Nat Hab headquarters in Boulder County, Colorado. This is subject to change as the COVID-19 situation evolves. Residing in the Denver metro area is preferred but not required.
