Compliance Manager

EAC Network, a not-for-profit social service agency that empowers, assists, and cares for over 82,000 people in need through 100 programs across Long Island and NYC, seeks a Compliance Manager to work full time for its Administration Department. The Compliance Manager position is an non-exempt position paying $30-36 per hour at 35 hours per. The hours of operation are Monday-Friday 9:00AM-5:00PM and the office is located in Garden City, NY. The role reports to Chief Operating Officer.

Primary Purpose of Job:

The Compliance Manager develops, initiates, maintains and revises policies and procedures for the general operation of the compliance program including HIPAA and other regulatory and funder mandated compliance requirements.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

  1. Serve as the agency Privacy Officer, responsible for staff education and enforcement of HIPAA and other policies that ensure the privacy, confidentiality and access to services by all persons.
  2. Develop, initiate and maintain the agencys Quality Assurance/Corporate Compliance Program and Compliance Committee and oversees its implementation within various departments across the agency.
  3. Examine the effectiveness of established polices, standards and procedures and assists all levels of management with regard to their compliance obligations.
  4. Maintain awareness of laws and regulations and conduct research as needed to identify applicable laws, regulations and practices to maintain compliance and serve as a resource regarding compliance issues.
  5. Develop, coordinate, and participate in training programs that focus on the components of the Compliance Program and seeks to ensure that all staff are knowledgeable of and comply with local, state and federal standards including Medicaid training, Code of Conduct, Whistleblower, and other compliance topics.
  6. Develop creative compliance education tools and activities such as email blasts, newsletters, and Compliance Week activities.
  7. Advise on methods to improve the agencys efficiency and quality of services.
  8. Conduct thorough and consistent audits checking for compliance and assuring that the documentation for the services rendered is in full accord with Federal, State, local and donor/funding source standards and policies.
  9. Prepare, maintain, implement and disseminate written practice standards and procedures.
  10. Report compliance risk areas and exposures to Chief Operating Officer and direct the implementation of corrective actions in response to reports or findings of potential or actual non-compliance.
  11. Visit EAC Network locations and meet with staff on a regularly scheduled as well as spontaneous basis to assess risk, conduct investigations, and educate staff.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Required:

  1. Bachelors degree in Compliance, Public Health, Business/Public Administration or other health and social services background required with minimum of 2 years relevant experience relating to regulatory requirements or similar experience required. Juris Doctorate preferred.
  2. HIPPA Compliance training or certification required or obtained within 90 days of employment.
  3. Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  4. Must be proficient in computer applications or other automated systems such as Microsoft Office applications.
  5. Must be willing to travel to agency locations throughout NYC & Long Island.
