Full-Time Community Pet Pantry Coordinator
Job Description
San Diego Humane Society is hiring a Full-Time Level Community Pet Pantry Coordinator for our San Diego Campus!
This position will support daily pantry operations, as well as Community Engagement and Community Support Service initiatives, across the entire organization. This bi-lingual role will be instrumental in bringing access to SDHS services and programs to under-resourced communities, sharing our philosophy of intake diversion and creating a more viable and sustainable pantry.
Education, Skill, Experience: Must have at least two years of paid full time progressively responsible experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience with animal shelter (or related) operations, partnership stewarding, supply management, community outreach, volunteer coordination, project management or event coordination. Bilingual in English/Spanish required (verbal required, verbal/written preferred). Experience in the field of customer service preferred. Requires excellent communication, organizational and time-management skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and database management experience is required. Must have a positive approach and rapport with animals and people and work efficiently under pressure in a flexible fast-paced work environment. This position is best suited for an individual with an upbeat, enthusiastic personality that both children and adults can easily relate to. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with strong public speaking and presentation skills. Skilled in establishing priorities and meeting deadlines. Sensitivity to confidential information. A demonstrated commitment to high professional ethical standards and a diverse workplace. Valid CA driver’s license and excellent driving record required. Must be comfortable in operating fork lift; training and certification will be provided.
Supervisory Responsibilities: Supervision of program volunteers.
Work Environment: A blend of standard office environment, distribution warehouse and various off-site locations such as parks, schools and community centers. When outdoors, may be exposed to weather conditions including heat, cold, rain and direct sunlight. Will be working directly with animals, staff, volunteers and the public. There is potential of exposure to parasites and infectious diseases that can be carried and transmitted by animals. Exposure to cat litter and dust, warehouse equipment, including but not limited to, a forklift and pallet jack. Meeting and interacting with clients and potential clients with mental and/or physical disabilities. May be asked to drive vans, truck, other Society vehicles, or own vehicle as necessary. Work hours will include evening and weekend time.
