Job Description:  Community Engagement Coordinator

SUMMARY:  Responsible for the coordination of events that Couleecap is leading or participating in to increase community awareness and/or raise funds to support agency programs and services. Assists with marketing and promotion of Couleecap and works with program directors to prepare grant proposals for program funding. Must show creativity, initiative, flexibility, good judgment, and the ability to work collaboratively. This position involves public/media visibility and contacts with Couleecap staff, other agencies, community groups, and businesses.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

Supports and upholds Couleecap’s mission to fight poverty and promote self-sufficiency for individuals by helping to identify needs, mobilize resources, and provide quality services.

Develops annual calendar of community awareness/fundraising events for Couleecap to lead or participate in and works collaboratively with other staff to execute these events.

Serves as agency “point-person” for community awareness/fundraising events Couleecap is leading or participating in and recruits appropriate staff to collaborate with for these events; assists in event planning and coordination.

Creates community displays and attends community awareness/fundraising events as needed.

Assists with marketing and promotion of Couleecap and its programs by conducting client interviews, serving as a speaker at community events, reaching out to donors/funders, etc.

Research funding opportunities for agency; prepares grant applications and conducts follow‑up with funding sources as needed. Solicits sponsors for key events.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:  None.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Requires completion of a baccalaureate degree in a college or university; or three to four years’ previous experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:  Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and program plans. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:  Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY:  Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:  Access to reliable, licensed, insured driver and transportation.

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:  Knowledge of coordinating events to promote agency and its programs and raise monetary support for agency. Strong organizational skills. Demonstrated skills in collaborating with others to execute events/projects. Proficient in Microsoft Word; knowledge of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
