Job Description

Erie Family Health Centers is a visionary community health center caring for 83,000 patients at 13 locations throughout Chicago and the northern suburbs. Erie is looking for a strong writer to join our creative, collaborative marketing and communications team.  As Erie’s Communications Specialist, you will assist in developing and coordinating internal and external communications designed to inform and engage staff, patients, donors, and other stakeholders in service of Erie’s goals.  The ideal candidate will be interested in and talented in expository and persuasive writing and balancing multiple projects in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities

  • Write a variety of content to support marketing efforts, such as email campaigns, website copy, brochures, press releases, and social media content.
  • Draft press releases and media alerts, assemble press kits, and performs media outlet outreach to promote Erie’s work and grow brand awareness
  • Assist in responding to media requests by helping identify and prepare Erie representatives for interviews and media appearances
  • Manage internal communications calendar, which includes fielding requests from various departments and ensuring effectiveness and professionalism.
  • Serve as editor, copywriter, and publisher for Erie’s weekly internal employee newsletter, and support content development, copywriting, and production of quarterly newsletter Erie Pulse.
  • Curate and add to Erie’s collection of patient stories, utilized by both the marketing and communications, and development teams to demonstrate the impact of Erie’s mission and services.
  • Assist with the research, writing, preparation, and production of additional Erie communication vehicles, including, for example, Erie’s Annual Report, video content, award nominations, and quarterly All-Staff meetings.
  • Monitor analytics and create reports measuring Erie’s communication campaigns and strategies’ impact, successes, and failures.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 1-3 years of experience in a communications or marketing development role
  • Demonstrated skills, knowledge and experience in the design and execution of marketing, communications and public relations activities
  • Exceptional, persuasive writing and clear verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills with attention to detail
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) as well as marketing software such as Constant Contact and Contact Monkey
  • Capacity to manage multiple projects simultaneously, remain adaptable and understand project priority in the context of multiple expectations
