The Communications and Secretariat Manager is a vital role within the British Forces Post Office Headquarters Plans and Policy team. The role offers a unique opportunity to look after a broad portfolio, working with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
The Communications and Secretariat Manager will be responsible for the following outputs:
· Strategic Communications: Develop and implement The British Forces Post Office (BFPO) Engagement Strategy, whilst continuing to horizon scan for opportunities and ensuring line of sight to Logistics Delivery Operating Centre (LDOC), Defence Equipment & Support (DE&S), Ministry of Defence (MoD) and Government Communication Service (GCS) strategies and messaging.
· Media and Campaigns – Social Media Management/Content creation: devise, implement and evaluate engaging messaging campaigns in accordance with appropriate frameworks and Departmental best practice. Support Assistant Head of LDOC Communications and Secretariat and DE&S Corporate Communications with the preparation of news briefs and Lines to Take.
· Strategic Engagement: Coordinate visits by internal and external stakeholders, ensuring their alignment to business and communications objectives. Act as point of contact for engagement with RAF Northolt. Collaborate with Royal Mail and Post Office Public Relations (PR) teams to identify and deliver joint PR opportunities.
· Internal Communications: Act as brand guardian, ensuring the correct implementation of corporate standards. Point of contact for DE&S Transformation communications and ensuring the delivery of Face-to-Face briefs and other engagement activities. Identify and facilitate opportunities for employee engagement throughout the year.
· Digital: Generate engaging, timely content for social media channels, respond to customer enquiries, and provide monthly analytics to senior managers.
· Customer Services: Oversee the work of the Service Desk team, ensuring customer enquiries are investigated and resolved professionally, and responded to appropriately. Provide guidance to the Service Desk Manager and his team in the resolution of more challenging enquiries.
· Secretariat: Collate Subject Matter Expert (SME) input and draft Ministerial Submissions, responses to requests made under the Freedom of Information Act, items of Ministerial Correspondence, and Parliamentary Questions, within required deadlines.

Responsibilities
To be considered for the DE&S BFPO Communications & Secretariat Manager role your CV must demonstrate evidence of the following essential skills:
– Excellent communications skills with the ability to adapt delivery to a wide range of audiences.
– Well organised with the ability to handle conflicting priorities.
– Experience working with stakeholders
– Background of developing effective digital and multi-media content suitable for a range of digital channels and audiences
Desirable:
– Intermediate level or above use of Microsoft (MS) word, Power Point, Excel, Outlook and Adobe Creative Cloud; Knowledge of MOD; Knowledge of press & media;
– Full UK driving license.
Please note this RAF Northolt based position will attract Outer London Weighting of £1,500 and Recruitment and Retention allowance of £1,750.
