In this national service position, you will get paid to serve in a direct patient care role while receiving on the job training. Gain hands-on experience in healthcare, while receiving professional development, career coaching, and a robust benefits package including:
- A living allowance of $1,199 distributed every 2 weeks
- PLUS: All CHC members receive a housing stipend – equal to 75% of the fair market value of a 1 bedroom in the assigned healthcare facility’s county
- PLUS: CHC members who need it can request a childcare stipend of $300 per child/month under the age of 13 (up to 3 children)
- Full health insurance (medical, dental, vision, and access to mental health support)
- An education award at the end of service of $2,474 to repay student loans or for future education expenses
We have positions available at healthcare sites across the state, so you can serve and start a new career in your community. Some sites may require specific certifications such as Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Qualified Medication Administration Personnel (QMAP) and Medical Assistant (MA), while others are recruiting people without any specific healthcare certifications or experience. All sites offer on-the-job training and we have opportunities for eligible members to earn a FREE healthcare certifications (BLS, QMAP) while serving their community and earning competitive benefits. “Earn while you learn” opportunities available for individuals currently enrolled in a CNA program.
Requirements:
Candidates must be Colorado residents by the start of service. This is an in-person AmeriCorps member position that serves full time. Your assigned shifts will be based on healthcare site staffing needs. Requirement may vary by host site location but these are the standard eligibility requirements for serving as an AmeriCorps member in this program:
- Ability to serve full time (40 hours a week) to complete a 675-hour service term in 20 weeks
- If prior National Service experience, must not have been terminated for cause
- 18 years of age prior to start date
- Ability to pass a National Service criminal history background check
- Hold one of the following citizenship statuses: US citizen, US National, Lawful Permanent Residents
Many sites have a high need for individuals who speak Spanish, so bi-lingual Spanish is a plus!
