Full-Time College Financial Analyst

Position Description
Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer of the John Glenn College of Public Affairs, the resource planning analyst supports annual budget planning, implementation, and administration and operations for the college; develops, updates and maintains financial dashboards that can be segmented by various programs and funding sources; constructs data models and projection tools in support of long-range academic planning; provides guidance, expertise, and instruction to department administrative and financial staff on preparation of annual budgets and use of templates and report functions in budget system; identifies concerns and constraints with variance and projections; directs colleges’ fiscal associate and department administrators to make adjustments and/or corrections as needed; conducts in-depth financial analysis of complex fiscal reports; manages multiple sources of funding, which may include sponsored research and federal restricted funds, grants, and contracts; assist users in access setup and training for users in Workday, Tableau and other relevant fiscal systems.
Essential Duties
30% Budget: Develops, implements, and reconciles unit budgets; prepares budget projections, revenue enhancement scenarios, and business plans; allocates, monitors, and analyzes budgets of assigned units including general, gift, earnings, and research funds; approves budget documents; identifies concerns and constraints with budgetary projections; enters budget data into Workday or other University-approved fiscal planning system; analyzes financial data to support strategic planning; review, confirm and update colleges’ financial data models; implements regular and periodic financial reconciliations, suggesting process modifications as needed;
25% Reporting: Conducts in-depth financial analysis of complex financial reports; evaluates and compiles summary of performance indicators to support management decisions and strategic decision making; provides data on budgets, expenditures, and cash balances to leaders, administrators and faculty, including developing and maintaining tools when necessary; developing ad-hoc reports as needed and designing reports customized to individual users as needed;
25% Data Modeling & Projections: Develop and maintain models to assist in the planning and preparation of future financial planning and analysis across all funding sources; analyze credit hour data and revise data model as necessary; develop model for determining return on investment by degree program;
20% Data Stewardship: Cleanup, review, and correct transactions in Workday; guide fiscal associate in supporting and understanding appropriate coding in support of the colleges’ financial reporting structures; devise processes for the regular upkeep and maintenance of data to ensure that data is accurate, relevant, and current; supervise fiscal associate; perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s Level Degree in data analytics, statistics, business administration, or related field, or the equivalent combination of education and experience, is required. Four years of experience working with data is required.
Desired Qualifications
Experience working with data visualization tools, such as Tableau, is highly valued. Experience working in academic budgeting and planning is desired.
