Thompson Coburn, a large full-service law firm with offices in eight (8) cities across the U.S., is in search of a full-time non-exempt Collections Specialist to join its St. Louis office. Under the leadership of the Client Account Manager, this position ensures that collection communications, including client statements, adhere to Firm guidelines, quality standards, and procedures. Candidates must have working knowledge of Excel to be successful in this position. After an initial period of training, this position is eligible for a hybrid-remote work schedule.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Communicates effectively and timely with management, clients, third-party payers, e-billing vendors, attorneys and assistants on all collection issues.
  • Captures data and responds to collection issues timely and effectively.
  • Documents, communicates procedures, known workarounds to users as well as provides general user support for ARCS or similar tool.
  • Comprehends system or process changes as they affect data and users.
  • Works with Billing and Collections Manager in identifying trends and proactively seeks ways to improve current processes and maximize efficiency within the group.
  • Enhances and maintains a repository of documentation, including status of work, to enable other personnel to function effectively during absences or workload changes.

 

Experience and Education Qualifications:

  • Minimum high school diploma or equivalent required.  An Associate’s degree is preferred.
  • At least three years of previous experience as a Collections Specialist or similar role in a professional office environment required.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially in Excel, and other databases required.
