Position Overview
The Division of Mental Health is seeking to hire a Clinical Nurse Manager for the Elgin Mental Health Center located in Elgin, Illinois. The Elgin Mental Health Center is seeking to hire an energetic and detailed orientated licensed Registered Nurse to direct and oversee para-professional, professional, and non-professional nursing personnel in a 24/7 operational facility, assuring that general health and nursing care needs are met for our patients. The Elgin Mental Health Center provides treatment for the release and restoration of the people we serve. Job Responsibilities
1. Serves as Clinical Nurse Manager for the Elgin Mental Health Center.
2. Directs nursing staff regarding the identification of patient needs.
3. Serves as full-line supervisor.
4. Periodically reviews by observation and required documentation, the accurate and timely completion of work assignments including therapeutic environment aspects of the nursing process including assessments, care plans, treatment plans, interventions, and documentation in progress notes (reviews are completed periodically and on a random basis).
5. Assumes the administrative duties of the Unit Associate Director in his/her absence.
6. Monitors that the nursing and the unit’s Quality Improvement Plans are utilized to evaluate patient care.
7. Participates in, reviews, and encourages the development of professional growth of assigned nursing personnel.
8. Participates, as part of the Nursing Administration, in determining overall staffing needs.
9. Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
1. Requires licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Illinois.
2. Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to the completion of four (4) years of college with coursework in nursing.
3. Requires prior experience equivalent to three (3) years of progressively responsible professional nursing experience in a public or business organization.
Preferred Qualifications (in priority order)
1. Three (3) years of professional experience supervising professional nursing staff.
2. Three (3) years of professional experience meeting deadlines with strong attention to detail and the ability to utilize critical thinking skills while multi-tasking multiple projects.
3. Two (2) years of professional nursing experience working with individuals with mental illnesses.
4. Two (2) years of professional experience recommending and preparing treatment plans for patients.
5. Three (3) years of professional experience communicating with internal and external stakeholders in oral or written form relative to the care and treatment of patients.
6. Three (3) years of professional experience recommending and implementing nursing policies and procedures following evidence-based practice and nursing standards.
Conditions of Employment
1. Requires the ability to stand and walk for a significant period, including stooping, bending, lifting, or exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally.
2. Requires the ability to participate in patient management interventions that may include participating in restraint interventions that require the physical hold of a patient.
3. Requires the ability to work after business hours, on weekends, and on holidays.
4. Requires the ability to meet all agency vaccine/health-related policies and guidance.
5. Requires ability to pass the IDHS background check.
6. Requires ability to pass a drug screen for drugs prohibited from recreational use under Illinois Law.
