Job Overview:
The Clinic Manager supervises clinic operations staff involved in routine functions. Oversight of administrative areas such as registration, new patient coordination, scheduling, medical records storage and maintenance, facilities, insurance authorizations, and clinical support staff such as medical assistants/health educators.
New Generation Health Center (NGHC) provides high-risk adolescents and young adults an array of family planning and reproductive health services. NGHC is a partnership between UCSF, Homeless Prenatal Program, and the San Francisco Department of Public Health’s Community Program for Youth (CHPY). The Clinic Manager directly reports to the UCSF medical director and works closely with the CHPY nurse manager with respect to clinic operations. The Clinic Manager is responsible for overseeing daily clinic workflow and coordination. The individual will conduct a range of clinic management activities including assigning work, provider scheduling and assigning daily duties, and identifying and implementing ways to maximize the clinic’s efficiency and the patient experience.
The position is responsible for triaging patients, providing support and orientation to clinicians as needed, overseeing supply, medication and vaccine inventory and reviewing patient charts to ensure proper charting has been completed. The Clinic Manager supervises medical support staff and provides training and direction to health educators who conduct clinic responsibilities including counseling, front desk, and laboratory. The individual also works directly with research to coordinate participation in research studies at the clinic.

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in any area and / or equivalent combination of experience / training.
- 3+ years of experience working in health care field or in a medical setting and problem-solving medical practice flow issues.
- Experience coordinating and leading or supervising diverse staff. Strong interpersonal and team leadership skills.
- Skills to supervise support staff in clinic / center administration, and to effectively manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Knowledge of practice operations, patient-scheduling systems, medical and insurance terminology, applicable information systems, patient service standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Skills in written and verbal communications, with the ability to convey complex administrative, clinical, and technical information in a clear and concise manner, and to produce a variety of reports and analyses.
- Detail oriented, with the ability to apply analytical and critical thinking skills to quickly analyze problems, determine appropriate level of intervention, and apply effective solutions.
- Solid interpersonal skills for effective information exchange and problem solving with all levels of management and staff, consultants, and outside agencies.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certified Medical assistant
- California Certified Phlebotomy Technician 1 (CPT-1) or equivalent license to perform phlebotomy in the State of California
- Ability to speak/write Spanish
- Basic knowledge of human resources management policies, with the ability to train, monitor, evaluate, and document human resources issues and performance, and to provide input to decision-making on human resources matters.
- Knowledge of business software and specialized applications and data management systems used in clinic / center operations.
- Knowledge of sexual/reproductive health education
