Temporary Clerical Support – LTE
Job Description
The City of Oshkosh Finance Department is searching for Clerical Support. This is a limited-term position expected to work through January 2024 for the purpose of providing extra counter coverage during tax collection season. The successful candidate can expect to work Monday – Friday, 4 to 5 hours a day. While the exact schedule offers some flexibility, we will expect the person to be here from 12:00 – 3:30 pm to help with lunch break coverage.
This position involves cashiering and clerical work relating to collection and recording of funds. Examples of work are receiving, receipting and recording monetary transactions and various clerical and customer service functions. Work is completed independently, within the limits of established practices, policies and regulations, and without immediate supervision. The employee’s work is reviewed by a superior and by subsequent audit and control procedures.
Specific duties may include:
- Receives and receipts monies by all accepted payment methods. Counts and balances receipts from other departments and agencies
- Balances cash drawer daily
- Sells various passes, permits and licenses
- Provides the public with general information about City departments. Resolves or directs customer complaints
- Initiates vouchers for various refunds or payments
- Performs related data entry, filing and other duties as assigned
Qualified candidates will possess:
- High School Diploma or equivalent, Associate degree in Business Administration or related field is desirable.
- Three years of cashiering experience.
- Two years of bookkeeping or banking experience.

Salary: This is a limited-term position and the hourly pay range is $15.00 – $19.50.
