Bishop’s University is located in the beautiful Eastern Townships just southeast of Montreal, on the unceded traditional lands of the Abenaki people. Meeting and working in this privileged location is a constant reminder of the need for continued conversations about the importance of decolonization and reconciliation, not just as abstract concepts, but as difficult processes requiring ongoing action. To this end, the members of our department and community enthusiastically listen, understand and, when appropriate, contribute to the ongoing national dialogue about the complex and intersectional nature of Indigenous rights specifically and about diversity, equity, and inclusion more broadly. We value these principles for their ability to foster creativity, breadth of experience, personal growth, and a sense of belonging among our faculty, staff, and students. We seek to create an environment where candidates from diverse backgrounds can thrive and belong. Thus, we encourage members from equity-seeking groups to self-identify in their application and we will ensure equitable access for qualified persons in marginalized groups. Candidates who anticipate needing accommodation for any part of the process may contact Human Resources at
