CIVIL ENGINEER/PRINCIPAL CIVIL ENGINEER
This position may be filled as either a Civil Engineer – Entry Level, Civil Engineer, or Principal Civil Engineer.
This is an exempt position with a full benefits package
- Pay Range Entry Level – $62,171 – $71,052
- Pay Range Civil Engineer – $71,156 – $81, 328
- Pay Range Principal Civil Engineer – $76,356 – $87,256
Calling All Civil Engineering
We’re on the lookout for three levels of enchanting Civil Engineers: Entry Level, Intermediate, and Principal, depending on your magical background and sorcery prowess! Harness your magical touch with municipal civil engineering principles and practices across three spellbinding categories: transportation, storm water, and utilities. We need a wizard who can transform blueprints into the brick-and-mortar wonders of tomorrow, juggling design, and drafting.
Magical Tasks Await! (Job Duties)
- Design Sorcery: Conjure up technical designs for streets, sewers, water mains, and more. Review plans created by other practitioners.
- Public Liaison: Work closely with the public, keeping our customer billing magic crystal-clear. Be the enchanting bridge between the city and its people.
- Mystical Site Plan Review: Dive into site plans, magic specs, and state policies, ensuring everything meets Oshkosh standards.
- Storm Water Spellcasting: Guarantee our Capital Improvement Projects are in sync with local and state sorcery regulations.
- Record-Enchantment: Maintain and update our magical GIS and CAD records. Keep our magic library (files) current.
- Project Engineering Enchantments: Lead various Capital Improvement magic projects from drainage to road construction.
- Engineering Guild Coordination: Work in harmony with fellow engineering wizards to optimize workflow.
Qualifications (Minimum Requirements)
Entry-Level Apprentice (Civil Engineer)
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
- Valid Driver’s License
Intermediate Wizard (Civil Engineer)
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
- 1-4 Years of related experience
- Valid Driver’s License
Principal Sorcerer (Civil Engineer)
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
- Four+ years of related municipal engineering experience which includes preparation and/or review of complex, comprehensive system plans.
- Registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of Wisconsin is preferred
- Valid Driver’s License

- Mastery of Civil Engineering: Deep knowledge of the principles, practices, methods, and enchanting techniques of civil engineering applied to public works infrastructure design, construction, and maintenance.
- Hydro-Wizardry Expertise: Proficient in engineering magic as applied to urban hydrology, storm sewer hydraulics, and non-point source pollution.
- Erosion Control: Skilled in selecting and maintaining erosion and sediment control , ensuring the land remains preserved.
- Project Leadership Sorcery: Capable of taking charge of engineering projects both in the field and within the enchanted office environment.
- Enchanting Communication: Ability to establish and maintain magical working relationships through spellbinding verbal and written communication with city employees and the public.
- Ever Vigilant: Always in a constant state of magical alertness and practicing safety enchantments.
- Surveying Wizardry: Knowledgeable in the magical methods of land surveying and its mystical techniques.
- AutoCAD: Proficient in using AutoCAD as a spell-crafting tool for designing magical plans.
- Comprehensive Knowledge: Thorough understanding of all civil engineering principles, ensuring every incantation (project) crafted is precise and effective.
- Construction Magic: In-depth knowledge of construction techniques and maintenance practices for public works infrastructure, ensuring projects are completed to enchantment standards.
- Project Overlord: Capable of leading diverse engineering projects, ensuring they adhere to the magic blueprints.
- Communication Charm: Excellent spell-casting skills in verbal, written, and interpersonal communications, making you well-suited to client and team interactions.
