Temporary Childcare Sessional
Job Description
This opportunity is at our unique, specialist family service. A place where parents addicted to drugs or alcohol come with their children to change their lives and determine their futures. We’re looking for skilled, dedicated and passionate staff to join us on flexible hours, to form part of our pool of Sessional Childcare Staff at our Sheffield Family Residential Service.
Within this role, a passion for providing outstanding care for children and displaying a positive attitude is required. We work with families who have previously struggled with substance misuse therefore promoting a trusting, positive relationship is important within the role. You will be working in an on-site nursery within the residential setting where we have both a baby room and nursery which the children attend.
Skills and Experience required:
- A level 3 NVQ Childcare Qualification or a relevant childcare qualification is required within this job role, we are also accepting students studying towards a qualification in Childcare.
- An understanding or a willingness to learn about parental substance misuse is preferable.
- Basic knowledge of Early Years Foundation Stage guidelines to help monitor developments through weekly observations.
- Act with reasonable care and skill
- Good communication skills
- Independent judgement
- Ability to work effectively within the team
- Ability to evaluate and interpret information and think creatively
- Flexible and adaptable
Previous experience is desirable, however not essential. Support Workers come from many different backgrounds and experiences, and you may have the transferable skills required. We are seeking dedicated individuals, based on your values, willingness to learn new skills and the compassion to deliver the best service possible to our residents.

Sessional work is on a casual basis and a specific number of hours each week cannot be guaranteed. Successful applicants will be added to a pool of Sessional staff to provide cover as and when needed. Flexibility is required to provide cover required and may include full days, half days, overnights and weekends.
