Wage Range

$65000 – $70000 Salary/year

Discretionary sign on bonus $4,000 – $8,000; Discretionary quarterly bonus $1250

Position Summary:

The Child & Family Therapist is a member of a cross-system team to serve families and their children with challenging behaviors through Wraparound with Intensive Services (WISe). This professional position provides assessment, treatment planning, and intensive intervention with the child and family. Services may include behavioral observation in the home and school, crisis intervention, ongoing treatment, and services to address safety and risk management. Services are provided where and when convenient for the family, including home, school, and community based.

Job Responsibilities:

Provision of clinical assessment, treatment planning and direct behavioral health services to children and families.

  • Provide the clinical intake assessment, which identifies child and family strengths, clinical diagnosis, and service needs and intensity. The individualized treatment plan will be integrated into the cross-systems plan of care with the goal of multi-dimensional assessment in all life areas including home, school and community.
  • Complete a safety plan when there is an imminent identified risk for the child and/or family, which outlines supervision and assessment of current mental health and safety needs.
  • Complete required behavioral health assessment tools with child and parent, including CANS (child adolescent strengths and needs).
  • Lead the team in decision making for high-risk children, contributing to the development and implementation of an individualized treatment plan that outlines supervision and assessment of current mental health and safety needs.
  • As part of the clinical team, assess the family’s need for community resources to ensure safety and recovery-oriented treatment.
  • Provide direct crisis response and de-escalation for children who are in behavioral crises in their home, school, and community.
  • Provide intensive and strength-based therapeutic behavioral health services and supports to children, and families in the community including: assessing for immediate safety and stabilization needs, treatment plan development, safety and crisis planning, child and family team meeting facilitation, on-going assessment and evaluation of current treatment planning strategies, goals, and outcomes.
  • Connect with team members, including other system partners, to gather their perspective on the familys strengths and needs and participation and commitment to a team process.

Participate in the cross-systems plan of care to support the child and family needs and goals.

  • Demonstrate an understanding of behavioral health services and their role in wellness and recovery by communicating role, responsibility and agency philosophy to assure mutual respect, confidence and trust with the child, family and other stakeholders.
  • Support to parents and caregivers by encouraging them to regain hope in, and control over, their own lives as well as their childrens lives.
  • Promote self-determination, empowerment, personal responsibility for recovery and wellness, and assist parent/caregivers to advocate for themselves and their children.
  • Partner with care coordinator, family partner and other members of the team in creating a wellness plan that empowers the family to reach their goals.
  • Communicate with the childs primary care provider and incorporated integrated health needs into the plan of care.
  • Utilize Motivational Interviewing techniques to ensure the individualized treatment plan and cross-system plan of care maintains a focus on strengths, needs and capacities of the child and family.

Transitioning Services to Natural and Other Community Supports

  • Inspire confidence in the child, family and other team members about their strengths and ability to transition successfully.
  • Arrange and negotiate a process for ongoing formal and informal services and supports.
  • Create a plan for aftercare supports and response post Catholic Charities involvement.

Provide required documentation and reporting.

  • Accurately complete documentation per required timeframes, and recorded in the Electronic Health Record.
  • Engage and inform team members as the treatment plan and system of care plan is updated or changed.
  • Provide required reporting for alleged abuse or neglect, parental relapse with drugs or alcohol, safety plan not followed, new safety issues identified, severe behavioral incidents, running away, or situations requiring medical attention or hospitalization.
  • Notify social worker within 24 hours if there are safety concerns for a WA State dependent child.

Participate in ongoing Continuous Quality Improvement to assure the services provided demonstrate best practice standards and meet all contractual requirements.

Actively participate in team and/or individual supervision as requested and consistent with agency policies.

Actively participate in staff meetings and multi-disciplinary team staffing with other team members.

Observe confidentiality and all HIPAA requirements in all areas with staff and families.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

The following requirements are those that are normally required for performance of this position. Physical Requirements:

This position normally requires the physical demands of standing, walking, bending, lifting or performing other work requiring low physical exertion, talking and hearing on a regular basis to perform the job requirements. These physical demands are required up to 80% of the time. Position also requires ability to drive with adequate vision.

Non-Physical Requirements

Education

  • Masters degree in Social Work preferred or other Behavioral Sciences

Experience

  • Minimum of 2 years experience working with at-risk children and families in behavioral health settings with children and families.

Special Skills

  • Ability to work flexible hours (evenings, nights, weekends) and maintain on-call rotation 24/7 with the WISe team
  • Knowledge of Wraparound principles and practice
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
  • Demonstrate maturity, professionalism and initiative
  • Operate from a strengths-based perspective with clear child/family voice
  • Ability to conduct home, school and community based visits
  • Possess good verbal and written communication skills and excellent documentation skills
  • Ability to provide service in a culturally competent manner
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member
  • Working knowledge of community resources
  • Ability to represent the agency in a professional manner within the community and develop collaborative relationships
  • Knowledge of child abuse and neglect issues and reporting
  • Extensive knowledge of mental health, social service and community resources
  • Support and uphold the mission and values of Catholic Charities Serving Central Washington
  • Basic computer proficiency

Licensure, Registration, Certification

  • Agency-Affiliated Counselor registration required
  • Valid Washington State drivers license and agency minimum required liability insurance

Employment is conditional upon:

  • Being cleared by criminal background check and fingerprinting
