The Role:

Accountable to the Chair and Board, KIO’s new Chief Executive Officer will be responsible for the successful delivery of KIO’s strategic objectives and goals. They will ensure the organisation remains at the forefront of combating all forms of discrimination in football and ensuring the sport is truly inclusive for all.

KIO is currently undergoing a long-term transformation, which requires a Chief Executive Officer who can lead in this context. A change agent with the commercial acumen for substantive and sustainable funding development, as well as the leadership skills necessary to instil a high-performance work culture whilst KIO digitises, extends, and enhances its internal processes and external operations.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Partnering with the Chair, Board and Executive Team to ensure the successful delivery of KIO’s five-year vision and strategy.
  • Transforming working practices within KIO, with responsibility for the organisation becoming insight led, as well as more data and technology centric.
  • Developing relationships with key funding partners (the FA, the EFL, the Premier League and the Professional Footballers Association), whilst also building ties with prospective and future funding partners to meet KIO’s ambitious plans to expand its impact.
  • Being a credible leader for KIO, by embodying the organisation’s values through a genuine commitment to, understanding of, and fluency in equality, diversity, and inclusion.
  • Building and maintaining strong working relationships with key industry stakeholders: including, but not limited to, funding partners, professional football clubs, players, former players, officials, grass roots football, fans, the media, etc.

The Candidate:

Skills:

  • Exceptional leadership skills, capable of inspiring, growing and developing a team through a period of significant transformation.
  • Demonstrable experience of delivering results in a fast-paced, sensitive and high-pressured environment.
  • A thorough knowledge of, and empathy with, issues that affect KIO, with an understanding of sport and its role for the betterment of society.
  • Digitally savvy with an appreciation of how technology can be utilised effectively to improve organisational performance, as well as deliver communication strategies, campaigns and plans.
  • Outstanding operational skillset, efficiency with finite resources and the ability to successfully lead a process of change management.

Personality:

  • Highly motivated, has presence and leads by example.
  • Strong emotional intelligence and low ego, with capability, as well as credibility, to develop positive working relationships with all stakeholders.
  • A coaching style that will support the professional development of KIO employees and the evolution of the organisation’s working practices.
  • Logical and good under pressure, with the ability to juggle multiple demands at the same time.
  • Culturally sensitive and fully committed to KIO’s mission.
