Full-Time Chief Development Officer – Development

Job Description

EAC NETWORK seeks a Chief Development Officer (CDO) to work in the Development Department of EAC Network in Hempstead, NY. The position is full time, Monday-Friday 9:00AM-5:00PM with flexibility for evenings and weekend availability. Excellent benefits medical/dental/401K and very generous Paid Time Off plan (PTO).

Primary Purpose

The Chief Development Officer (CDO) is responsible for working directly with the President & CEO, Board of Directors, Senior Management teams, community partners, sponsors, organization supporters, and the community at-large to create and implement comprehensive development programs, special events and marketing campaigns that proactively secure primarily unrestricted annual and endowment funds necessary to fulfill EAC Networks mission.

Responsibilities

  1. Structure and lead a high-functioning development department to successfully solicit significant donations from both public and private sources and to expand the base of support.
  2. Actively participate in strategic discussions and plans about current and anticipated priorities, opportunities, and the future direction of the agency.
  3. Create and implement a comprehensive, strategic plan to generate increased support for EAC Networks strategic priorities, including but not limited to the annual operating budget, new programming, diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives and cash reserves.
  4. Plan and manage donor outreach efforts. Track prospects, pledges, gifts, grants, and acknowledgements, regularly providing reports to funders.
  5. Develop donor recognition programs
  6. Execute and manage expansion and marketing of fundraising activities, strategies and special events.
  7. Manage logistics and timelines for small and large-scale events.
  8. Recruit and liaise with board members, event planning committees and co-chairs, including organizing planning meetings, following-up on requests, scheduling post-meeting analysis and sending regular income and event updates.
  9. Manage activation of sponsorship benefits at events as well as sponsor relations both pre and post event.
  10. Develop new sponsorship opportunities in conjunction with committee members, corporations, funders and events.
  11. Identify all available major gift programming opportunities, to cultivate donor support.
  12. Develop planned giving strategy
  13. Create a new board member orientation and board development strategies
  14. Create a help guide and provide support to board members in their fundraising efforts
  15. Supports and participates in agency-wide efforts to promote and highlight DEI
  16. Develop and execute well-designed stewardship plans, including fulfillment of donor acknowledgements, foundation requirements and sponsor benefits.
  17. Coordinate with Program Directors to target solicitations, grants, and/or foundations for special needs specific to programs.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  1. Bachelors degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or related field required.
  2. Significant corporate and community contacts with both private and corporate foundations and donors.
  3. Five to seven years of progressively responsible development, marketing, fundraising & event management experience, staff leadership and mentoring experience.
  4. Must be proficient in computer applications or other automated systems including Microsoft Office applications, database fundraising software necessary to perform work assignments.
  5. Excellent conceptual, organizational, communication and writing skills as well as persuasive communication and presentation skills required.
  6. Understanding of the social services sector and its unique funding sources and challenges.
  7. Proven success as a front-line major gift solicitor from existing and new donors.
  8. Knowledge of the NYC and Long Island, business, government, and philanthropic communities with ability to skillfully represent EAC Network to donors, prospects, and the public across our geographic region of Long Island and New York City.
  9. Current with established and emerging tactics in fundraising and ability to identify and secure new sources of funding.
  10. Experience diversifying the donor base to include donors from historically underrepresented groups.
