Job description
Be integral to introducing Future Engineering Capability and addressing Obsolescence requirements to the C-130J Aircraft platform as a Certification Engineer with DE&S.
As the Certification Engineer you will be involved with the engineering control of modifications to the C-130J Hercules Aircraft.
Responsibilities
Reporting to the C-130J Future Capability/ Certification Manager you will help to direct and ensure the completion of all phases of the Military Air Systems Certification Process (MACP) including:
• Close liaison and coordination with Design Organisations and Independent Technical advisors
• Definition of a Type Certification Basis and Plan
• Definition and review of evidence requirements and ensuring they satisfy Release to Service (RTS) requirements
You will be a C-130J focal point for the coordination and delivery of all engineering aspects of delegated engineering modification tasks, both major and minor, ensuring that they can be supported by the RAF Front Line.
On delegated projects, you will act as the focal point for liaison with:
• The Military Airworthiness Authority (MAA)
• The DE&S Airworthiness Team (DAT)
• The RTS Authority (RTSA)
• RAF operational and Test Squadrons
In addition, as a Certification Engineer you will:
• Support the Project Manager in the delivery of modification tasks
• Organise and chair engineering meetings for projects you are responsible for
• Provide SME advice to relevant Integrity Working Groups
• Work closely with the Safety Engineering Team in ensuring that risks are identified and that hazards are managed to an ALARP level
• Provide engineering support the Chief Engineer/TAA to enable accurate advice to be provided to the Aviation Duty Holder Chain
Essential Qualifications and Experience:
• Relevant level 4 engineering qualification or equivalent experience
• Certification experience
• Understanding of Aviation Regulation
• Airworthiness experience
Desirable experience:
• Professional Engineering Registration
• Safety engineering and risk management
• Exposure and understanding of military aviation
