The Heart & Hand Center is a 501(c)(3) non-profit. By creating a nurturing community,
Heart & Hand empowers all young people to realize their potential. Through our Career and College Readiness (CCR) Program, H&H provides individual case management and monthly events supporting young people beginning in 9th grade through two years post high school. Additionally, we extend support to enrolled families by providing resources, referrals, and emergency assistance to guardians.

Areas of Responsibility

The below outlines primary responsibilities of the CCR Program Coach, additional duties may arise at the request of the CCR Program Manager or because of the CCR Program Coach’s skills or interests.

Program Implementation

  • Build strong relationships with Heart & Hand students and families
  • Work collaboratively with any program volunteers or interns
  • Participate and communicate in staff meetings and attend professional development opportunities
  • Plan and implement special event programming, including but not limited to, volunteer groups and corporate engagement with Development Team
  • Communicate challenges and issues with Program Manager
  • *Act as CCR point of contact with the supervision of Program Director in the absence of Program Manager. This includes, but is not limited to, responding appropriately to student concerns, and any emergencies that may arise
  • *Serve as a coach/mentor to new program team members, including but not limited to, regular interns and volunteers
  • Support a caseload of high school and post-high school young adults to help set long- and short-term goals and create paths to achieve those goals
  • Family support and engagement, including but not limited to: *Advocate for family member, child, or teen with school(s) or other agencies *Assess needs for additional services and makes referrals when necessary
  • Assist in development, planning, and implementation of monthly events to strengthen transferable skills necessary for career and college success
  • Maintain and strengthen the positive relationships created with community and school partners and participate in the creation of new partnerships
  • Help in building a network of resources, supports, and community partners for the CCR program
  • Assist with set-up and clean-up of any facilities utilized for programming
  • Work collaboratively with the Middle School Program to recruit incoming 9th graders and with the Family Development Program to ensure holistic supports are given to students and families *This involves supporting these two programs on a monthly basis

Administrative and Research

  • Support with data tracking of students to assess long- and short-term impacts
  • Support in the research of best data tracking practices
  • Maintain accurate and updated documentation for students on caseload, and address any immediate concerns that arise with students and/or their families
  • Support with maintaining updated records for students in program
  • Support in creating and distributing monthly newsletters
  • Support in the research and understanding of how to create a sustainable Career & College Readiness Program
  • Support in the research, development, and implementation of a Career Exploration program which will focus on job shadowing, internships, and work study opportunities with partner organizations and companies
  • Supporting with development and distribution of numerous types of surveys
Requirements/Qualifications
  • Applicants must be at least twenty-one years of age
  • Must possess a genuine desire to empower all youth
  • Preferred prior experience working with young people beginning in high school
  • Must have the ability to develop and cultivate collaborative relationships with volunteers, staff, youth, families, and community members
  • Able to actively communicate with students/families through email, text, phone *This includes sending multiple reminders of upcoming events
  • Ability for flexibility within schedule
  • Must be a flexible, solutions oriented, dependable, team player
  • Must have strong organizational skills and the ability to exercise discretion
  • Display the ability to conduct oneself in a mature manner
  • Spanish speaking a plus
  • Ability to transport students to and from meetings and events is a plus
  • Proficient in Word, Google, Excel, and able to learn other programs quickly
  • Employment is contingent on a criminal background check
Compensation/Benefits
Compensation:

This is a 30 hour a week position Monday-Friday with flexibility in scheduling the 30 hours to meet the needs of different meetings and responsibilities. Salary is $17 / hour.
