Full-Time Campaign Leader – End Speciesism
Job Description
Objective:
We’re looking for someone smart to work on PETA’s “End Speciesism” campaign. We’re interested in creative minds with solid written and verbal communication skills, who can not only recognize opportunities but act quickly to seize them, and can develop and carry out strategies to promote PETA’s abolitionist ideas to the public.
Primary Responsibilities and Duties:
• Develop and carry out active, strategic plans and projects that will push PETA’s anti-speciesism campaign priorities into the media spotlight and the public consciousness
• Responsible for letters, ads, events, demonstrations, and other efforts in which securing media coverage of the issue and social media buzz are important goals
• Expected to represent PETA to and in the press
• Conduct accurate research and analyses on campaign targets
• Develop and maintain a campaign timeline that ensures consistent and constant action to achieve campaign priorities
• Keep informed about local and national news stories, track stories relevant to your campaign team, and develop opportunities to use those stories to further your campaign’s message
• Cooperate and liaise with colleagues in similar areas of work
• Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor
Qualifications:
• College degree or equivalent experience
• Minimum of two years of creative or activism experience
• Prior project management experience
• Thorough knowledge of animal rights issues, PETA modus operandi and PETA campaigns
• Clear understanding of the principles and roots of oppression
• Proven excellent research and analytical skills
• Demonstrated ability to think critically and creatively
• Proven ability to communicate with a variety of people in a professional and personable manner
• Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
• Proven ability to take initiative and follow through
• Demonstrated ability to multitask, work with minimal direct oversight, and meet deadlines
• Professional appearance and adherence to a healthy vegan lifestyle
• Must be at least 21 years of age and have a valid U.S. driver’s license, a minimum of three years of driving experience, and a satisfactory driving record
• Support for PETA’s philosophy and the ability to professionally advocate PETA’s positions on issues
• Commitment to the objectives of the organization
