Full-Time Business Development/Account Manager
Job Description
We’re looking for a savvy, smart, Business Development/Account Manager, with a ton of ideas, contacts and experience who can aid in growing our business – new and existing. This role is the first and foremost dedicated to evaluating new business opportunities and leading agency teams to win business. The secondary focus of this role is to fill a crucial account management function on large scale and/or complex projects when a dedicated leader of account management is needed to allow the production team to plan and execute.
All candidates must understand and be excited by the opportunity to have a dual focus. This role reports into the Director of Business Development and will have a dotted line into the Accounts team, when applicable.
MKG has offices in NYC and LA. Candidates are expected to live within commuting distance of either office and be present for collaborative, in-person work on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.
RESPONSIBILITIES (INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO):
- Lead multiple proposals/projects at any given time, responsible for meeting all internal and external deadlines
- Author compelling creative briefs that are insights driven
- Manage internal resources (finance, production, creative, design, etc.) to develop comprehensive proposals/work that deliver against client needs
- Partner with creative strategy team to develop innovative solutions based on knowledge of client’s business and proposal/project requirements
- Act as a client’s main point of contact to understand proposal/project needs needs, objectives, obtain business updates and set overall project expectations and deliverables
- Act as the rock for internal and external teams, ensuring all thoughts and perspectives are heard and considered
- Keep internal and external parties aligned and on track – reinforcing all roles, timelines, and accountabilities
- Address all client questions related to the project throughout proposal process
- Orchestrate and attend capabilities meetings with new and existing clients
- Create agency marketing materials, including capabilities decks
- Research market conditions and trends to identify how MKG can most effectively grow existing client relationships and expand our current list of clients
- Work with Director of Business Dev to develop and maintain a database of existing and prospective clients to inform our new business strategy
- A constant advocate for the agency with clients and existing networks
- Ongoing nurturing of client relationships, ensuring MKG always remains top of mind
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL:
- Have a strong presence
- Understand the art of pitching
- Have experience and interest in bringing in new business and growing that business
- Have experience working in the experiential marketing space
- Have experience working on new business development, especially responding to RFPs
- Have experience leading and growing accounts
- Have strong client management, internal management and presentation skills
- Have experience working with interagency teams and multiple stakeholders
- Be able to sort through complex information and decide best approach to take
- Demonstrate a strong work ethic, a bias for action, and a dedication to results
- Be determined, tenacious, level-headed and passionate
- Possess optimism in the face of challenges
- Be passionate about ideas, brands, the agency, and our clients’ business
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Communications, Marketing or a related field
- Minimum 5+ years of relevant experience
- Strong understanding of brand marketing & sponsorship
- Ability to nurture and grow long lasting client relationships
- Adept in multitasking and working under pressure
- Dedicated, enthusiastic and always willing to go the extra mile
- Must have an awesome sense of humor, a collaborative spirit and a love of dogs!
