Job Description
Position Overview
The BI & Data Business Analyst is responsible for gathering, identifying, documenting, and maintaining business and functional requirements as it relates to the organizational needs for data management. The analyst is as a liaison between the business units and business intelligence developers to understand, analyze and document requirements for business intelligence solutions including reports, visualizations, data warehouse and the multi-dimensional cube. The analyst will also test and validate the solutions to ensure quality and customer expectations are met. The BI & Data Business Analyst will be very adept at understanding core business needs and can propose effective data solutions to solve everyday business challenges. This position will report to the Sr. Manager, Enterprise Data and Research.
Essential Functions
- Develops and maintains knowledge of the customer’s business needs as it relates to data.
- Gather and document requirements from stakeholders, product owner and developers for reports, dashboards, metrices, and KPIs.
- Create source to data warehouse mapping specifications, data models, and data flow diagrams for use by data warehouse development resources.
- Builds user stories with acceptance criteria for team backlog refinement and prioritization.
- Organizes requirements into related categories to effectively manage and communicate them to various parties
- Creates and executes test strategies to verify data quality against business rules and user expectations.
- Performs analysis for production support of systems and applications, creates associated documentation and coordinates resolutions
- Creates, reviews and delivers end-user documentation (user guide, process flow charts, training materials) and training for accuracy.
- Assures integrity between data warehouse and OLTP as business rules change.
- Develops and manages effective working relationships with other departments, groups or personnel with whom work must be coordinated.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a business-related field, computer science or similar. Minimum of three years of in a business analyst or relevant role. Or equivalent combination of education/experience.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Exceptional analytical, conceptual thinking, and documentation skills.
- The ability to influence stakeholders and work closely with them to determine acceptable solutions.
- Competency in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Experience with reporting and visualization tools such as SSRS and PowerBI.
- Knowledge of data warehousing concepts and testing.
- Experience working with cubes, measures, dimensions.
- Proven working experience as a data analyst or business analyst.
- Possesses an understanding of information systems, data modeling, business intelligence, relational and dimensional database design.
