Full-Time Bridge Transportation Worker III
Job Description
- Do pipe installations.
- Install erosion control devices, trenching, and shoring operations.
- Conduct structure inspections.
- Perform welding, pile driving, steel fabrication, and steel beam repairs.
- Drive spikes.
- Install traffic control.
- Perform flagging.
- Operate heavy equipment in work zones.
- Perform carpentry, concrete work, machine operations, contract inspections, sandblasting/painting, demolition work, and lead paint removal.
- Operate hand and power tools.
- Clear right of ways.
- Repair pavement.
- Experience in pipe and erosion control device installation.
- Intermediate Work Zone Safety Traffic Control experience.
- Experience constructing formworks using skilled carpentry techniques.
- Working knowledge of standard bridge maintenance and construction procedures.
- Experience drilling, cutting, and fitting structural steel to tight tolerances.
- Ability to safely operate medium dump truck.
- Skills in the safe use & care of assigned equipment, hand, & power tools.
- Ability to perform manual maintenance duties.
- Ability to act upon verbal & written communications.
- Agility to traverse steep and uneven terrain.
- Ability to work in extreme temperature conditions.
- Ability to work safely and following instructions to complete assigned tasks.
- Ability to safely use tools associated with related Bridge maintenance and/or construction activities.
- Strength to lift 50 pounds, exert 100+ pounds of force occasionally, up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and 10+ pounds of force constantly to move objects.
- Ability to safely operate Class A CDL-required equipment/trucks with manual and automatic transmissions.
- A Commercial Driver’s License with Tanker (N) endorsement (Don’t have it? Still apply! You can get it through our on-the-job training program within 360 days of hire).
- Safety toe footwear.
- We will conduct a pre-employment drug test, and a background check with previous employers for the past 3 years about controlled substances and alcohol testing.
- You will be subject to Emergency Call Backs and scheduled night work during bad weather or other extreme circumstances, including responding to emergencies, such as snow and ice removal, downed trees, etc.
- Some work will be performed while suspended at moderate heights, confined areas, over water, in water, in extreme heat and cold, and during bad weather.
- We may require work during non-traditional work hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Work is being performed in the roadway or on the shoulder adjacent to the traveling public in heavy traffic at interstate speeds, near heavy equipment.
- High school/GED diploma, and
- 5+ years of relevant experience; or
- An equivalent combination of education and experience.
