Full-Time Bridge Transportation Supervisor I
Job Description
- Supervise one or more crews in the maintenance and repair of state-maintained bridges including working in and around heavy traffic, near heavy equipment, and with power tools to perform a wide range of maintenance to repair, replace and construct bridges, pipes, and culverts.
- Assist management with investigating/answering public concerns.
- Maintain a close team environment and work independently as needed.
- Assist management with staff counsel and discipline.
- Monitor expenditures and maintain work records, time sheets, job reports, and inventory records.
- Plan work operations and adjust work assignments.
- Train employees on-the-job.
- Conduct performance reviews.
- Assist with interviewing and recommend new staff.
- Ensure equipment is maintained and serviced as required.
- Routinely determine materials, techniques, and tools to accomplish standard and non-standard work assignments.
- Bridge maintenance/repair and related equipment operation experience.
- Record keeping experience, such as tracking employee/equipment time, and recording quantities of materials used.
- Experience planning work and supervising bridge crews.
- Work Zone Safety experience and NCDOT Workplace Safety Policy and Practices knowledge.
- Experience inspecting bridges for minor maintenance needs.
- A Commercial Driver’s License with Tanker (N) endorsement. (Note: If you don’t have this, you can gain it through our on-the-job training within 360 days of hire)
- Ability to operate Class A CDL trucks with manual and automatic transmissions.
- Safety toe shoes.
- High School/GED diploma, and
- 6+ years of progressive experience; or
- An equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Your work will require exposure to all types of weather conditions and the ability to work on uneven surfaces and slopes using NCDOT-required Proper Protective Equipment following OSHR and the NCDOT Safety Policy/Procedure Manual.
- You will be subject to emergency call back and will be required to work nights/weekends as needed for emergency and planned operations during adverse weather.
- We require a pre-employment drug test and will conduct a background check with previous employers for the past 3 years for controlled substance/alcohol testing.
