The Challenge
We are looking for an experienced Bridge Engineering Technician III to join our Bridge Maintenance team.
 
In this role, you will:
    • Supervise junior Engineering Technicians by reviewing daily inspection reports, scheduling project staff, and project field reviews.
    • Perform independent inspections of bridge maintenance contract replacement and field maintenance projects to assure compliance with contract provisions and standard specifications for roads and structures.
    • Create and assemble contract documents.  
    • Serve as a rodperson/instrument person.
    • Inspect structure and roadway operations including pile driving, steel/concrete placement, sub grade preparation, asphalt paving and traffic activity.
    • Perform routine math computations calculating work by contractors and others.
    • Track and report contract progress,.
    • Process contractor and material invoices.
    • Enter data in HiCams, including samples, pay records, material received reports, tickets, etc.
    • Perform other bridge maintenance duties and responsibilities.
What You Bring
    • Knowledge and understanding of NCDOT concepts, practices, and theories used in highway construction and knowledge of math functions.
    • Experience working on complex inspections for roadway, structure, and resurfacing project to ensure compliance with contract documents, plans, and NCDOT standards and specifications.
    • Experience maintaining detailed records, reports, performing analysis of findings, and recommending correction actions.
    • Basic computer skills.
    • Management experience in the supervision, management, and training of employees.
    • Safety toe shoes.
Education and Experience
    • Associate’s degree in Engineering Technology, Survey Technology or a related field, and
    • 3+ years of relevant technician experience; or
    • An equivalent combination of education and experience.
