NEW HIGHER SALARY: $48,817 – $81,930
 
The Challenge
We’re looking for an experienced bridge engineering specialist to join our Bridge Program team.
In this role, you will:
    • Work jointly with our Division Bridge Program Manager and Division Bridge Maintenance Engineer to ensure that appropriate bridges are chosen for replacement and ensure we are performing the correct maintenance and system preservation activities on bridges at the appropriate time.
    • Help ensure that all priority maintenance issues, and critical findings are addressed in an appropriate and timely manner.
    • Assist in determining which activities need to be handled by contract and assist in the administration of those contracts.
    • Assist our Division Bridge Program Manager and Division Bridge Maintenance Engineer in ensuring the successful delivery of our Division’s work plan.
  
What You Bring
    • Thorough knowledge and understanding of engineering concepts, practices, and theories used in bridge project development and bridge construction engineering.
    • Experience interpreting and communicating, verbally and in writing, details of plans, project documents, policies, and procedures to convey information to consultants, staff, and others.
    • Experience leading and maintaining positive working relationships with environmental agencies, consultants, or NCDOT staff, to find acceptable solutions to bridge project problems.
    • Experience maintaining detailed records, analyzing findings, and recommending corrective actions.
    • Experience determining and calculating estimates and preparing erosion control plans.
Education & Experience
    • Associate’s degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Survey Technology, or related discipline, and
    • 6+ years progressive technician experience; or
      
    • High School/GED Diploma, and
    • 8+ years progressive technician experience; or
      
    • An equivalent combination of education and experience.
