Temporary Board Member
Job Description
Board Members (HR & Customer Experience)
Location: Flexible with a mix of online and in person meetings in Gloucester.
Package: £4,500 per annum and relevant training.
Time commitment: approx. 2 evenings per month plus preparation time, plus 4 x strategic planning days per year.
GCH feels an exceptional place to be right now…
Gloucestershire’s best place to work? Yes, that’s us. Awarded for our inclusive culture and commitment to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion? That’s right. Shortlisted at National Healthy Housing Awards? Guilty.
All of this in just the last couple of months? Ok, we’re showing off.
The opportunity
Following a Governance refresh we are seeking two individuals who would like to be involved in our cultural journey, helping us to build on what we’ve already achieved. Joining as Non-Executive Directors on our Board and relevant committees (HR & Customer Experience).
Diversity is key to the success of our organisation and our board is no different. It’s vital to us that our board represents the diverse backgrounds and communities from which our customers are from, who share our values and are keen to positively contribute their experience as part of our inclusive governing body.
Human Resources or Customer Experience will be ‘your thing’, with a level of expertise to effectively challenge and impact on our strategy in these areas. An understanding of the housing sector and the regulatory context within which we operate would be useful but is not essential, as training and support will be provided.
You will be keen to influence and drive the strategic direction and success of our truly modern housing association through strong governance. Keeping customers at the heart of strategic decision making and with our values of Pride, Quality, Integrity and Innovation particularly resonating with you.
Why us?
You may have sensed that we’re not just any social housing provider. We look to do things differently to achieve our commitment to building a healthy, vibrant, and inclusive organisation that treats people with respect and creates opportunities for all.
We have strong community roots and an ambitious five-year strategy. In the last year we have undergone significant change; with a new Chair and Chief Executive, in our operating environment, regulatory framework and with the needs and expectations of customers and colleagues.
Our new Governance structure is key to enabling us to continue to excel and support our vision of building homes and communities where people can thrive.
Closing date: 8th January 2023
Shortlisting will be carried out throughout the period of the advert and this closing date may be brought forward should we receive a large response from suitable candidates
Interview Date: The 25th of January 2023
