The Center currently has over 75 staff working at five facilities across San Diego County.

 

POSITION SUMMARY

Reporting to the Senior Director of Behavioral Health Services, the Bilingual Staff Counselor position provides individual, couples, family, and group counseling primarily to the HIV/AIDS and LGBT communities via telehealth as well as in-person services.  The Bilingual Staff Counselor will be out stationed for in-person services at a partner organization in San Diego’s North County.

 

PRIMARY ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide individual/couples/co-joint/group/family counseling, including crisis counseling, assessment, treatment planning, and information & referral.
  • Maintain Electronic Health Record documentation and reporting.
  • Maintain minimal productivity standards.
  • Participate in BHS Department meetings, check-ins, consultation, training, and clinical supervision, as applicable, as well as agency meetings and training.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Professional Skills:
    • Successful completion of terminal graduate training program in a psychotherapy-related field: Ph.D./Psy.D., M.A. or M.S. in psychology, MSW, etc., from an accredited university or college.
    • Licensed-eligible in Marriage and Family Therapy, Social Work, or APCC and currently registered with the CA Board of Behavioral Sciences.
    • Prior experience working in the LGBTQ and HIV communities.
    • Knowledgeable about current issues/trends related to the LGBTQ community and others who are historically marginalized.
    • Strong critical thinking, verbal communication, active listening, and empathy skills.
    • Strong organization and management skills.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Must be comfortable working in PC/Windows-based environments.
    • Must have proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Outlook, and Excel.
    • Experience with using electronic health records.
  • Language Skills: Bilingual fluency in English/Spanish.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education/Experience: Lived experience as a member of a historically under-served community (i.e., low-income, communities of color, LGBT communities, immigrant communities, etc.)

 

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:

  • Compensation: The pay range for this position is $30.00 – $32.00 and is commensurate with experience. This is a Full-Time Regular Non-Exempt
