Job Description
BGIS is currently seeking a Benefits Manager to join the team as a member of our growing division.
JOB SUMMARY
The Benefits Manager leads all United States team member health and welfare benefits and communicating benefits and policy information as needed to team members and healthcare providers. The position works with team members and fellow HR team members to support benefits initiatives, company strategies and benefit containment. The Benefits Manager leads others, positively exemplifying BGIS values.
KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Program Management
- Review competitive benefit offerings from a strategic company standpoint both annually and as required for business needs to attract and retain team members.
- Ensures health, welfare and financial benefit plans are compliant with federal, state and local laws.
- Contribute to analysis of benefit programs in acquisition due diligence activities.
- Provide direction to benefit brokers (health and 401k) and manage all vendor relationships.
- Lead benefit team, resolve benefit escalations and provide exceptional customer service to team members.
Administration
- Manage team member benefits programs for two US companies owned by BGIS such as: retirement plans, hospital, medical (referenced based pricing), surgical, prescription, vision, dental, life insurance plans, temporary disability programs, accidental death policies, Employee Assistance Program, and others.
- Act as liaison between team member and Third-Party Administrator to assist in communicating benefit and policy information. Ensures billing or coverage issues are handled timely and accurately.
- Provide guidance and assistance to all team members regarding benefit plans when questions and special circumstances arise.
- Assist HR VP in recommending new or modified plans and team member benefit policies and supervises administration of existing plans.
- Prepare and executes benefit documentation such as original and amended plan texts, benefit agreements and insurance policies.
- Direct efforts with brokers, vendors, and internal payroll department to provide timely and effective communication, claims and billing processes.
- Ensure team member census data is accurate and timely, including data entry as needed.
- Supervise and directs work of Benefit Specialist.
- Oversee leave management program in compliance with federal, state, and local laws.
- Lead annual open enrollment meetings and arranges for enrollment of employees in optional plans.
- Coordinate employee benefit seminars for team members.
- Advise and counsels management and team members on existing benefits.
- Contribute to the completion of other key initiatives as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
- A bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience and five (5) years of experience in human resources and/or benefits administration required.
- Certification preferred.
- Strategic approach to building benefit program portfolios, providing competitive options to team members and meeting corporate business goals.
- Ability to work quickly and accurately with extremely detailed and complex data required.
- Highly developed sense of urgency required.
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills required.
- Collaborative approach with other HR speciality areas and contribute positively to overall teamwork
- Time management skills to prioritize competing requests and activities.
- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite – Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook required; working knowledge of SharePoint preferred.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Ability and willingness to travel.
- Current valid driver’s license and ability to provide personal transportation for meetings and job visits away from the office with reimbursement.
