Full-Time Benefits Account Executive II (Req#1159)
Job Description
The Account Executive will work with clients, servicing accounts and set strategy for the client service team. In this role will be responsible to make decisions regarding the direction and strategy the account will make in terms of planning and execution their benefits plan. They will serve as a senior advisor with other team members that work with the client.
Major responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Maintains and enhances the firm’s relationships with existing clients by executing proactive, creative, and ongoing contact initiatives. Takes the lead on assigned accounts and provides a high degree of support in maintaining, expanding, and servicing group benefit accounts.
- Provides strategic and consultative support to sales and account management throughout the sales process, implementation, and renewal of existing accounts.
- May help with new business opportunities, particularly cross-selling.
- Manages the larger and most complex clients and has a good understanding of these accounts’ requirements.
- May have some Carrier Placements responsibilities. Negotiates final terms and conditions with carrier as needed.
- Provides guidance to less experienced Account Executives and Account Managers but has no formal supervisory responsibility.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university; or equivalent, 3-5 years sales, marketing, or relationship management experience.
- Possesses an in-depth knowledge of the insurance brokerage business and the assigned clients’ needs.
- Professional designations (or pursuit of), including CEBS, CPCU, CIC, or ARM are required.
- Has at least ten years of sales, marketing, or relationship management experience.
- The relationship management experience should include independent work on complex clients with different employee benefit funding methods.
- Possesses an in-depth knowledge of the insurance brokerage business and the assigned clients’ needs.
Skills and Knowledge
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents such as financial reports, legal document, and procedure manuals. Ability to respond to complex inquires or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to clients, top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
- Licensed agent status for the State of Massachusetts and all other states where Eastern Insurance conducts business as required. Maintains current Life, Accident & Health (LAH) License, including, but not limited to, CEU’s.
- Personal computer knowledge and experience such as MS Word, Excel, Outlook, etc. is required.
- Proven ability to cultivate relationships with clients. Demonstrates effective negotiation and closing techniques.
- Proficient knowledge of Group Benefit products, including 401K, HR compliance and programs.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong analysis and judgment skills
- Works well in a team environment
