Full-Time Automotive Mechanic / Equipment Repair Technician III – HIGHER PAY!
Job Description
- Perform skilled mechanic work involving services and repair of mechanical systems of gasoline/diesel powered automotive and heavy equipment.
- Perform mechanic work at various levels. Work assignments vary in complexity depending on the type of mechanical system.
- Diagnose, repair, and do preventive maintenance on tires, tubes, wheel & rims, cranking systems, lighting systems, cooling systems, fuel system, and hydraulic systems.
- Be the back up to the supervisor.
- Maintain automated fuel systems.
- Conduct monthly inspections and PM’s at all 5 division fuel locations.
- Issue and receive fuel key update requests.
- Replace lost or damaged Prokee to all using departments.
- Keeps records of annual UST inspections and line leak tests.
- Assist in annual NC and Federal UST inspections.
- Maintain AIM System and daily error reports.
- Keep up with 30 day inspections of wash bays and oil water separators.
- Uses our online SAP system to update mileage and hours on equipment and keep up with 30 day PM’s.
- Be our Mobile Radio Coordinator.
- Program all new radios when received at the division.
- Reprogram radios after repairs or battery failures.
- Perform 30 day PM’s at radio tower sites and check operations in case of power failures.
- Assist all Division 9 staff with radio repairs or failures.
- Assist state radio engineer in any repairs or upgrades to the system.
- Be the Emergency Generator contact.
- Perform 30 day PM’s on all division generators and operational checks.
- A complete set of mechanics tools.
- Experience performing preventive maintenance on 1+ of the following: light, medium, heavy-duty trucks, and heavy equipment.
- Experience performing electrical/ electronic diagnostics and repair of complex wiring on 2+ of the following; light, medium, heavy duty trucks, and heavy equipment.
- Experience performing hydraulic system diagnostics, repairs, and rebuilds on a variety of equipment.
- Experience troubleshooting and repairing 1+ of one of the following: light, medium, heavy duty, or farm equipment brake components.
- Experience in the diagnostics and repair of powertrain components.
- Ability to perform duties in accordance with all safety regulations.
- Organizational skills to prepare and maintain paperwork essential to employment, equipment repair, inventory, and service records.
- Communication skills to understand written and oral instructions.
- Agility and strength to move parts and material necessary to repair and maintain equipment.
- Ability to safely operate equipment for testing purposes.
- Demonstrated commitment to a safe working environment by leading by example.
- Ability to read and interpret Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) manuals.
- Ability to safely operate a motor vehicle.
- A Class A Commercial Driver’s License with N endorsement. (Note: If you don’t have this already, you can get this through our on-the-job training within 360 days of hire).
- Safety toe footwear.
- This role requires work during adverse weather such as snow and/or ice, tornadoes, hurricanes, etc. that can lead to working extended daily hours, weekends, and holidays.
- We may require current certification by the EPA as a Type I, II, III, or Universal Technician.
- High School/GED diploma, and
- 3+ years of relevant experience, or
- An equivalent combination of education and experience.
