NEW HIGHER SALARY: $36,682 – $64,194
 
The Challenge
We are looking for a skilled automotive mechanic/vehicle equipment repair technician II to join our Orange County Equipment team.
 
In this role, you will:
    • Perform semi-skilled and skilled work on automotive systems; preventive maintenance; brakes; steering; tires and tubes; wheels, rims, and hubs; transmission (Auto); charging system, cranking system; ignition system; lighting system; cooling system; exhaust system; fuel system; power unit, hydraulics; air conditioning; instruments & gauges; and air intake systems.
    • Service, inspect, repair, rebuild, and diagnose mechanical systems for gasoline, diesel, and alternative-powered engines/equipment.
    • Prepare employment and equipment repair paperwork.
 
What You Bring
    • A complete set of mechanic tools.
    • Experience performing preventive maintenance on 1+ of the following: light, medium, heavy-duty trucks, or heavy equipment.
    • Diagnostics experience on basic electrical systems and proper wiring repairs.
    • Basic hydraulic system repair experience including component replacement and hoses.
    • Troubleshooting and repair experience on 1+ of the following: light, medium, heavy duty, or farm equipment brake components.
    • Knowledge of diagnostic software, tools, and equipment for trucks and heavy equipment.
    • Ability to repair and maintain automotive and heavy equipment and diagnose problems using diagnostic equipment,
    • Ability to understand written and verbal instructions.
    • Strength and agility to move parts and material necessary to repair and maintain equipment.
    • Ability to read schematics, diagrams, and sketches.
    • Ability to read maps and identify components (engine, air compressor, differential, etc.).
    • Can safely operate equipment for testing purposes.
    • Ability to work in an indoor and outdoor environment.
    • Able to work in emergency situations and inclement weather.
    • A Commercial Driver’s License. (Note: If you don’t have this you can get it through on-the-job training within 360 days of hire.)
 
Notes
    • Safety toe footwear is required.
    • We may require current certification by the EPA as a Type I, II, III, or Universal Technician.
    • We will conduct an pre-employment drug test and check with your employers over the past 2 years about controlled substance and alcohol testing.
 
Education & Experience
    • High School/GED diploma, and
    • 2+ years of relevant experience, or
    • An equivalent combination of education and experience.
