Full-Time Automotive Mechanic / Equipment Repair Technician II – NEW HIGHER PAY!
Job Description
- Service, repair, rebuild and diagnosis mechanical systems of gasoline/diesel-powered automotive, heavy equipment.
- Perform mechanical work using hand and power tools.
- Operate a state vehicle and have a valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License with Tanker (N) endorsement within 360 days of hire. (Note: We provide on-the-job training to get this!).
- Perform skilled mechanic work on, but not limited to:
- Preventive maintenance
- Brakes (air and hydraulic)
- Steering
- Tires and tubes
- Wheels
- Rims and hubs
- Transmissions (auto and manual)
- Charging systems
- Cranking systems
- Ignition systems
- Lighting systems
- Cooling systems
- Exhaust systems
- Fuel systems
- Power units
- Hydraulics
- Air conditioning
- Instruments and gauges
- Air intake systems
- Preventative maintenance experience on at least of one of the following: light, medium, heavy-duty trucks, and heavy equipment.
- Basic welding knowledge of principles and application.
- Experience diagnosing basic electrical systems and performing proper wiring repairs.
- Experience in basic hydraulic system repairs, including component and hose replacement.
- Computer experience using diagnostic tools to obtain diagnostic and repair information.
- Ability to repair and maintain automotive/heavy equipment and diagnose problems using diagnostic equipment.
- Skills to prepare paperwork related to employment and equipment repair.
- Communication skills to understand written and verbal instructions.
- Agility to move parts and materials necessary to repair and maintain equipment.
- Ability to safely operate equipment for testing purposes.
- Able to work in indoor and outdoor environments.
- Strong commitment to providing a safe working environment by leading by example.
- Ability to read/interpret Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) manuals, schematics, diagrams, and sketches.
- Strength to move relatively heavy objects.
- Ability to work in emergency situations and inclement weather.
- Ability to operate a State vehicle and a Fuel Truck as needed.
- We will conduct a pre-employment drug test and interview your employers over the past 2 years about controlled substance/alcohol testing.
- We may require current certification by the EPA as a Type I, II, III, or Universal Technician.
- Safety toed shoes are required.
- High School/GED diploma, and
- 2+ years of relevant experience, or
- An equivalent combination of education and experience.
